Hadith 5393
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that a woman undertook a sea journey and made a vow that if Allah Almighty saved her from this journey, she would fast for a month. When Allah Almighty granted her safety, she had not yet observed the fasts when she passed away. A female relative of hers came to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and related the entire incident. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Fast on her behalf.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that Sayyiduna Sa’d bin Ubadah (may Allah be pleased with him) asked the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) about the vow which his mother had made, but she passed away before fulfilling it. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: You should fulfill it on her behalf.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Sa'd bin 'Ubadah (may Allah be pleased with him) that he came to the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: "My mother has passed away, and she had a vow upon her. Hadith 5396
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that a woman made a vow to perform Hajj, but she passed away before fulfilling that vow. Her brother came to the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and inquired about this matter. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: What do you think—if your sister had a debt, would you pay it off? He replied: Yes. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Then fulfill Allah’s debt as well, for He is more deserving that His debt be paid.
