بَابُ ثَوَابِ الْعَبْدِ إِذَا أَطَاعَ اللَّهَ تَعَالَى وَأَطَاعَ سَيدَهُ وَوَعِيدِهِ إِذَا خَالَفَ
Chapter on the Reward of the Slave Who Obeys Allah the Exalted and His Master, and the Threat If He Disobeys
Hadith 5248
عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِذَا الْعَبْدُ أَدَّى حَقَّ اللَّهِ وَحَقَّ مَوَالِيهِ كَانَ لَهُ أَجْرَانِ قَالَ فَحَدَّثْتُهُمَا كَعْبًا قَالَ كَعْبٌ لَيْسَ عَلَيْهِ حِسَابٌ وَلَا عَلَى مُؤْمِنٍ مُزْهِدٍ
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: When a slave fulfills the rights of Allah Almighty and the rights of his master, he will have a double reward. The narrator says: When I related this hadith to Sayyiduna Ka'b (may Allah be pleased with him), he said: There is no reckoning for such a slave, nor for a believer with little wealth.
Hadith 5249
عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ لِلْعَبْدِ الْمُصْلِحِ الْمَمْلُوكِ أَجْرَانِ وَالَّذِي نَفْسُ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ بِيَدِهِ لَوْلَا الْجِهَادُ فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ وَالْحَجُّ وَبِرُّ أُمِّي لَأَحْبَبْتُ أَنْ أَمُوتَ وَأَنَا مَمْلُوكٌ
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) said: A righteous slave has two rewards. Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: By Him in Whose hand is the life of Abu Hurairah! If there were not good deeds like striving in the way of Allah, Hajj, and good conduct with the mother, I would have preferred that when death comes to me, my condition would be that I am a slave.
Hadith 5250
عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ إِذَا أَطَاعَ الْعَبْدُ رَبَّهُ وَسَيِّدَهُ فَلَهُ أَجْرَانِ قَالَ فَلَمَّا أُعْتِقَ أَبُو رَافِعٍ بَكَى فَقِيلَ لَهُ مَا يُبْكِيكَ قَالَ كَانَ لِي أَجْرَانِ فَذَهَبَ أَحَدُهُمَا
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) said: When a slave obeys both his Lord and his master, he receives a double reward. The narrator says: When Sayyiduna Abu Rafi’ (may Allah be pleased with him) was set free, he began to weep. When he was asked what was making him cry, he said: I used to have two rewards, and now one of them has ended.
Hadith 5251
عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُمَا عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ الْعَبْدُ إِذَا أَحْسَنَ عِبَادَةَ رَبِّهِ تَبَارَكَ وَتَعَالَى وَنَصَحَ لِسَيِّدِهِ كَانَ لَهُ أَجْرُهُ مَرَّتَيْنِ
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: When a slave worships his Lord in a good manner and is also sincere to his master, then he will have a double reward.
Hadith 5252
عَنْ أَبِي مُوسَى رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ مَنْ كَانَتْ لَهُ أَمَةٌ فَعَلَّمَهَا فَأَحْسَنَ تَعْلِيمَهَا وَأَدَّبَهَا فَأَحْسَنَ تَأْدِيبَهَا وَأَعْتَقَهَا فَتَزَوَّجَهَا فَلَهُ أَجْرَانِ وَعَبْدٌ أَدَّى حَقَّ اللَّهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ وَحَقَّ مَوَالِيهِ وَرَجُلٌ مِنْ أَهْلِ الْكِتَابِ آمَنَ بِمَا جَاءَ بِهِ عِيسَى وَمَا جَاءَ بِهِ مُحَمَّدٌ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَلَهُ أَجْرَانِ
Narrated by Sayyiduna Abu Musa (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Whoever has a slave-girl and he gives her good education and teaches her good manners, then sets her free and marries her, for him there will be two rewards. The slave who fulfills the rights of Allah Almighty and the rights of his masters, for him there are two rewards. And the person from the People of the Book who first believed in the Shariah brought by Jesus (peace be upon him), and then believed in the Shariah brought by Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), for him also there are two rewards.
Hadith 5253
عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ نِعِمَّا لِلْعَبْدِ أَنْ يَتَوَفَّاهُ اللَّهُ بِحُسْنِ عِبَادَةِ رَبِّهِ وَبِطَاعَةِ سَيِّدِهِ نِعِمَّا لَهُ وَنِعِمَّا لَهُ
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: How excellent is that slave for whom Allah causes death while he is worshipping his Lord and obeying his master in a good manner; this is the best thing for him, rather, it is very excellent.
Hadith 5254
عَنْهُ مِنْ طَرِيقٍ ثَانٍ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ نِعْمَ مَا لِلْمَمْلُوكِ أَنْ يُتَوَفَّى يَحْسُنُ عِبَادَةَ اللَّهِ وَصَحَابَةَ سَيِّدِهِ نِعْمًا لَهُ
(Second chain) The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: The best thing for a slave is that death comes to him while he is worshipping Allah in a good manner and also fulfilling his duties to his master in a good manner.
