It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that those slaves who became Muslim before their masters and reached the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would set them free. On the day of Ta’if, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) freed two such men.

(Second chain) The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, laid siege to the people of Ta’if. Two of their slaves came to him, and he, peace and blessings be upon him, set them free. One of them was Sayyiduna Abu Bakrah, may Allah be pleased with him. Whenever a slave would come to the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, having embraced Islam, he, peace and blessings be upon him, would set them free.

. (Third chain) On the day of Ta’if, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) said: Whoever slaves come to us, they will be free. Then, along with Abu Bakrah, some slaves came to him (peace and blessings be upon him and his family), and he set them free.
