بَابُ فِي فِدَاءِ رَجُلَيْنِ مِنَ الْمُسْلِمِينَ بِرَجُلٍ مِنَ الْمُشْرِكِينَ وَمَنِ افْتَدَى بِتَعْلِيمِ أَوْلَادِ الْأَنْصَارِ الْكِتَابَةَ وَكَرَاهَةِ قُبُولِ الْفِدْيَةِ عَلَى تَسْلِيمٍ جُمَّتِ قَتْلَى الْعَدُوِّ
Chapter on Ransoming Two Muslims for One Polytheist, Ransoming by Teaching the Ansar's Children to Write, and the Dislike of Accepting Ransom for Surrendering the Enemy's Dead
Hadith 5093
عَنْ عِمْرَانَ بْنِ حُصَيْنٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَدَى رَجُلَيْنِ مِنَ الْمُسْلِمِينَ بِرَجُلٍ مِنَ الْمُشْرِكِينَ مِنْ بَنِي عُقَيْلٍ
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Imran bin Husain (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) took two Muslims in exchange as ransom for a polytheist of Banu Aqeel.
Hadith 5094
عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُمَا قَالَ كَانَ نَاسٌ مِنَ الْأَسْرَى يَوْمَ بَدْرٍ لَمْ يَكُنْ لَهُمْ فِدَاءٌ فَجَعَلَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِدَاءَهُمْ أَنْ يُعَلِّمُوا أَوْلَادَ الْأَنْصَارِ الْكِتَابَةَ قَالَ فَجَاءَ يَوْمًا غُلَامٌ يَبْكِي إِلَى أَبِيهِ فَقَالَ مَا شَأْنُكَ قَالَ ضَرَبَنِي مُعَلِّمِي قَالَ الْخَبِيثُ يَطْلُبُ بِذَحْلِ بَدْرٍ وَاللَّهِ لَا تَأْتِيهِ أَبَدًا
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas, may Allah be pleased with them both, that some of the captives of Badr did not possess anything to give as ransom, so the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, set their ransom as teaching the Ansari children how to write. One day, one of those children came to his father crying. He asked: Son! What happened to you? He replied: My teacher hit me. He said: Wretch, he wants to take revenge for Badr. By Allah! You will never go to him again.
Hadith 5095
عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُمَا أَنَّهُ قَالَ قَتَلَ الْمُسْلِمُونَ يَوْمَ الْخَنْدَقِ رَجُلًا مِنَ الْمُشْرِكِينَ فَأَعْطَوْا بِجِيفَتِهِ مَالًا فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ ادْفَعُوا إِلَيْهِمْ جِيفَتَهُمْ فَإِنَّهُ خَبِيثُ الْجِيفَةِ خَبِيثُ الدِّيَةِ فَلَمْ يَقْبَلْ مِنْهُمْ شَيْئًا
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that during the Battle of the Trench, the Muslims killed a polytheist. They wanted to give wealth in exchange for his corpse, and the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said regarding this: "Hand over their corpse to them; this corpse is impure and its compensation is also impure." Thus, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) did not accept anything from them in exchange for it.
Hadith 5096
عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُمَا قَالَ أُصِيبَ يَوْمَ الْخَنْدَقِ رَجُلٌ مِنَ الْمُشْرِكِينَ وَطَلَبُوا إِلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنْ يُجِنُّوهُ فَقَالَ لَا وَلَا كَرَامَةَ لَكُمْ قَالُوا فَإِنَّا نَجْعَلُ لَكَ عَلَى ذَلِكَ جُعْلًا قَالَ وَذَلِكَ أَخْبَثُ وَأَخْبَثُ
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that during the Battle of the Trench, a polytheist was killed. Those people requested the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that they wanted to bury their man, but the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: No, there is no honor or dignity for you. They said: We will give you something in exchange for him. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: That would be a very impure thing, rather the most impure of all.
