Chapter on What Has Been Reported Regarding the Special Share (al-Safiy) for the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him)
Hadith 5036
عَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ الشِّخِّيرِ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ كُنَّا بِهَذَا الْمِرْبَدِ بِالْبَصْرَةِ قَالَ فَجَاءَ أَعْرَابِيٌّ مَعَهُ قِطْعَةُ أَدِيمٍ أَوْ قِطْعَةُ جِرَابٍ فَقَالَ هَذَا كِتَابٌ كَتَبَهُ لِي النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ أَبُو الْعَلَاءِ فَأَخَذْتُهُ فَقَرَأْتُهُ عَلَى الْقَوْمِ فَإِذَا فِيهِ بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيمِ هَذَا كِتَابٌ مِنْ مُحَمَّدٍ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ لِبَنِي زُهَيْرِ بْنِ أُقَيْشٍ إِنَّكُمْ إِنْ أَقَمْتُمُ الصَّلَاةَ وَأَدَّيْتُمُ الزَّكَاةَ وَأَعْطَيْتُمْ مِنَ الْمَغَانِمِ الْخُمُسَ وَسَهْمَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَالصَّفِيَّ فَأَنْتُمْ آمِنُونَ بِأَمَانِ اللَّهِ وَأَمَانِ رَسُولِهِ قَالَ قُلْنَا مَا سَمِعْتَ مِنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالَ سَمِعْتُهُ يَقُولُ صَوْمُ شَهْرِ الصَّبْرِ وَثَلَاثَةِ أَيَّامٍ مِنْ كُلِّ شَهْرٍ يُذْهِبْنَ وَحَرَ الصَّدْرِ
It is narrated from Yazid bin Abdullah, he says: We were in that enclosure in Basra, when a Bedouin came, he had a piece of leather or a waterskin with him, he said: This is a letter, this was written for me by the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him. Abu Al-Ala says: I took that letter and read it out to the people, its wording was: In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. This letter is written from Muhammad, the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, to the Banu Zuhair bin Aqeesh. If you continue to perform prayer, give zakat, give the fifth of the spoils, the share of your Prophet, and the chosen portion, then you will remain in the protection of Allah and the protection of His Messenger, in safety. Then we asked him: What did you hear from the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him? He said: I heard him say: The fasts of the month of patience and three fasts from every month remove malice from the chest.
