Hashraj bin Ziyad Ashja'i narrates from his grandmother, she says: I went out with the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, in the Battle of Khaybar, while I was the sixth among six women. When the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, found out that women were also going with him, he called us. We felt that there were signs of anger on the face of the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him. Then he said: Who brought you out and by whose order did you come out? We said: We came out ourselves, so that we could hand arrows to the fighters, give sattu (barley drink) to the people. Some of us women can also treat the wounded and braid hair to help in the way of Allah. The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: Get up and go back. When Allah Almighty granted victory over Khaybar to the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, he gave us a share just like the men. I, Hashraj, said: O grandmother! What was given to you as your share? She said: Dates.

A woman from Banu Ghifar (Sayyida Umm Ziyad Ashja’i) narrates: She says, I, along with some women from Banu Ghifar, came to the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, and we said to him: O Messenger of Allah! We also wish to go out with you in that direction. At that time, the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, was heading towards Khaybar. We will treat the wounded and help the Muslims as much as we can. The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: Go forth with the blessing of Allah. So we set out with the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him. I was a young girl, and the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, seated me on the back part of his saddle on his mount. By Allah! The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, dismounted in the morning, made the camel sit, and I also got down from the back part of the saddle. Suddenly, I saw that there was blood flowing from me onto it; this was my first menstruation. I became frightened, jumped towards the she-camel, and felt shy. When the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, saw me and the blood that was with me, he said: What has happened to you? Perhaps you have started menstruating? I said: Yes. He said: Then take care of yourself, take a vessel of water, put salt in it, and wash the blood from the saddle, then mount your ride again. When the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, conquered Khaybar, he also gave us a small share from the spoils of war. This necklace that you see around my neck, the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, took it and gave it to me, and he himself placed it around my neck with his own hand. By Allah! This necklace will never be separated from me. The narrator says: Then this necklace remained around her neck until her death, and she had willed that it be buried with her. Also, whenever this woman had her period afterwards, when purifying herself, she would put salt in the water, and she had also willed that salt be put in the water for her ritual bath.

It is narrated from Humaid bin Hilal, he says: A man from the Tufawah tribe used to pass by us, he came to a tribe and related this incident to them: I went to Madinah Munawwarah with my caravan, sold my goods there, then I said: I will definitely, definitely go to this man (Muhammad, the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him) and inform those behind me about his reality. When I reached the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, he showed me a house and said: Indeed, a woman used to live in this house, she went out with a Muslim expedition and left behind twelve goats and a spinning spindle in the house, she used to work with that spindle. When she returned, she found one goat and the spindle missing. Then she said: O my Lord! Whoever goes out in Your path, You Yourself guarantee the protection of his belongings. Now one of my goats and my spindle are missing, I remind You of that promise and say: my goat and my spindle. Then the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, mentioned before Allah the intensity of her demand and appeal. Then he, peace and blessings be upon him, said: Then it happened that her goat and another goat like it, and her spindle and another spindle like it, were returned to her. And you yourself go to her, and if you wish, ask her about it. I said: Yes, I affirm your truthfulness.
