Hadith 4869
Narrated from Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him), he says: When the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) returned from the expedition of Tabuk and approached Madinah Munawwarah, he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Surely, there are people in Madinah such that whenever you set out and whichever valley you crossed, they were with you. The people said: O Messenger of Allah! While they are in Madinah? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Yes, they are in Madinah; in fact, an excuse has kept them back.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) said: On the Day of Resurrection, a man from among the people of Paradise will be brought, and Allah Almighty will say to him: O son of Adam! How did you find your abode? He will say: O my Lord! It is the best abode. Allah Almighty will say: Ask for more and wish for more. He will say: What should I ask for and what should I wish for? Yes, return me to the world so that I may be martyred ten times in Your path. He will say this upon seeing the virtue of martyrdom.

Sayyiduna Ibn Abu Umairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: There is no such Muslim among the people who wishes that Allah causes him to die and then he returns to you and is given the world and all that is in it, except for the martyr. Then the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: If I am martyred in the way of Allah, this deed is more beloved to me than that all the cities and villages are given to me.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik, may Allah be pleased with him, that the Noble Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: There is no one who enters Paradise and then would wish to leave it and be given all that is on the earth, except for the martyr. He, realizing the honor of martyrdom, will wish to be taken out of Paradise so that he may be martyred again.

Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Allah Almighty has taken the responsibility for the person who sets out in His path, and (Allah Almighty says that) when this person sets out only for striving in My path, believing in Me, and affirming My Messenger, then I also guarantee that I will admit him into Paradise, or return him to his home with reward or spoils, whatever he has obtained. (Then the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said:) By Him in Whose hand is my soul! Any wound that is inflicted in the path of Allah, the wounded person will come on the Day of Resurrection in the same state as when he was wounded; the color of the blood flowing from the wound will be the same as that of blood, but its fragrance will be like that of musk. By Him in Whose hand is the soul of Muhammad! If it were not hard upon the Muslims, I would never stay behind from any army fighting in the path of Allah, but I do not have the means to bring them all with me, and they do not like to stay behind from me. By Him in Whose hand is the soul of Muhammad! I wish that I fight in the path of Allah and am killed, then (brought back to life and) fight again and am killed, then (brought back to life and) fight again and am killed.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) that a man said to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) on the day of Uhud: "If I am martyred, where will I be?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) replied: "In Paradise." So he threw away the dates that were in his hand and began to fight, until he was martyred and separated from the food of this world.
