It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Rafi’ (may Allah be pleased with him) that when Sayyida Fatimah (may Allah be pleased with her) gave birth to Sayyiduna Hasan (may Allah be pleased with him), she said: “Should I not offer a sacrifice and perform ‘aqiqah for my son?” The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) said: “No, rather shave his head and then give charity in silver equal to the weight of his hair to the poor and the weak.” These weak people were some needy individuals among the companions of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), who used to stay in the mosque or on the platform (Suffah). The wording of Abu Nazr’s narration is as follows: “Spend this silver on the weak, that is, the people of Suffah and the poor.” Sayyida says: “So I did so, and then when Husayn was born, I did the same.”

(Second chain) When Sayyiduna Hasan bin Ali (may Allah be pleased with them both) was born, his mother Sayyida Fatima (may Allah be pleased with her) wanted to perform the aqiqah of two rams for him. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) said: Do not perform aqiqah for him, rather shave his head and give charity in Allah’s way equal to the weight of his hair in silver. Then when Sayyiduna Husayn (may Allah be pleased with him) was born, Sayyida did the same.

Narrated from Sayyiduna Samurah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Every child is held in pledge for his 'aqiqah; on the seventh day, an animal should be sacrificed on his behalf, his head should be shaved, and he should be named.
Narrated from Sayyiduna Samurah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Every child is held in pledge for his ‘aqiqah; on the seventh day, an animal should be sacrificed on his behalf, his head should be shaved, and he should be smeared with blood.
(Second chain of narration) The Noble Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: It is similar to the narration mentioned above, except that in it are the words "wa yusamma," while in Hammam's narration are the words "wa yudamma," and the narrator Qatadah described the state of this blood as follows: When a person slaughters the animal for 'Aqiqah, a piece of cotton is taken and placed before the veins of the sacrifice, then it is placed on the child's crown, until the blood flows, and after washing it, the head is shaved.
