Hadith 4702
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) had forbidden visiting graves, using certain specific utensils, and keeping the meat of sacrificial animals for more than three days. Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Indeed, I had forbidden you from visiting graves, so now you may visit them, for they remind you of the Hereafter. And I had forbidden you from using certain utensils, so now you may drink from them, but avoid every intoxicating thing. And I had forbidden you from keeping the meat of sacrificial animals for more than three days, so now you may keep it for as long as you find appropriate.
Hadith 4703
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik, may Allah be pleased with him, that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: I had forbidden you from keeping the meat of sacrificial animals for more than three days, but then I realized that people have to host guests and some meat has to be kept safe for those who are not present, so you may keep that meat for as long as you wish.
Hadith 4704
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: When any one of you offers a sacrifice, he should eat some of the meat from his sacrifice.
Hadith 4705
It is narrated from Sayyida Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that a group of Bedouins came on the occasion of Eid al-Adha, and because of them, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Eat and you can store it for three days. When the next year came after that, the people said: O Messenger of Allah! People used to benefit from their sacrifices in such a way that they would preserve the fat and make water skins? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: What do you want to say? They said: You forbade storing the meat of sacrifice last year. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: I only forbade it because of the arrival of the Bedouins; now you may eat, give charity, and store it.
Hadith 4706
Abbas bin Rabee’ah says: I asked Sayyidah Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her): Did the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) ever make the meat of sacrifice forbidden for more than three days? She said: No, in fact, the matter was that few people used to offer sacrifice, so the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) gave this command so that those who sacrificed would feed meat to those who did not. We saw ourselves that we used to preserve the thin shank portion of our sacrifices and then eat it even after ten days.
Hadith 4707
(Second chain) Abbas bin Rabee’ah says: We asked Sayyida Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) whether the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) had forbidden eating the meat of sacrificial animals for more than three days. She said: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) gave this command only during those days when people were afflicted with hunger; his intention was that the wealthy should feed the poor. We ourselves used to preserve the thin part of the leg and eat it after fifteen days. I asked: What compelled you to do so? She laughed and said: The family of Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) was never satisfied with bread and curry for three consecutive days, until the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) met Allah, the Exalted.
Hadith 4708
Yazid bin Abi Yazid Ansari narrates from his wife that she asked Sayyida Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) about the meat of sacrificial animals. She said: Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) returned to us from a journey, and we presented him with the meat of sacrifice. He said: I will not eat it until I ask the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). Then when he asked the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), he said: You may eat this meat from one Dhul-Hijjah to the next Dhul-Hijjah.

Umm Sulayman says: I went to Sayyida Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) and asked about the meat of sacrificial animals. She said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) had prohibited it, but later he permitted it. Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) returned from a journey and Sayyida Fatima (may Allah be pleased with her) presented him with the meat of her sacrifice. He said: Did the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) not prohibit this? She said: He had prohibited it, then later permitted it. Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) went to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and asked him about this. It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Sa'id Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him), he says: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) had forbidden us from eating the meat of sacrifice for more than three days. Then I went on a journey, and when I returned to my wife, only a few days had passed since Eid al-Adha. My wife served beetroot cooked with pieces of meat. I asked: Where did these pieces come from? She said: It is the meat from our sacrifices. I said: Did not the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) forbid us from eating it for more than three days? She said: Yes, but after that, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) granted people permission. I did not confirm my wife's statement and sent a message to my brother, Sayyiduna Qatadah bin Nu'man Badrī (may Allah be pleased with him), to ask him about this. He replied with this message: Eat your food, your wife is telling the truth, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) has granted Muslims permission regarding this matter.
