Hadith 4666
عَنْ جَابِرٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ لَا تَذْبَحُوا إِلَّا مُسِنَّةً إِلَّا أَنْ تَعْسُرَ عَلَيْكُمْ فَتَذْبَحُوا جَذَعَةً مِنَ الضَّأْنِ
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: You should only slaughter a two-toothed animal, but if this becomes difficult for you, then you may slaughter a jadha’ (one-year-old) sheep.
Hadith 4667
عَنْ أَبِي كِبَاشٍ قَالَ جَلَبْتُ غَنَمًا جُذْعَانًا إِلَى الْمَدِينَةِ فَكَسَدَتْ عَلَيَّ فَلَقِيتُ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ فَسَأَلْتُهُ فَقَالَ سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ نِعْمَ أَوْ نِعْمَتِ الْأُضْحِيَّةُ الْجَذَعُ مِنَ الضَّأْنِ قَالَ فَانْتَهَبَهَا النَّاسُ
Abu Kabash says: I brought a yearling sheep of the breed to Madinah, but my business went bad, so I met Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) and asked him. He said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "A yearling sheep of the breed is the best sacrifice." Then people rushed to me and started buying them.
Hadith 4668
عَنْ بَعْجَةَ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ عَنْ عُقْبَةَ بْنِ عَامِرٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَسَمَ ضَحَايَا بَيْنَ أَصْحَابِهِ فَأَصَابَ عُقْبَةَ بْنَ عَامِرٍ جَذَعَةٌ فَسَأَلَ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَنْهَا فَقَالَ ضَحِّ بِهَا
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Uqbah bin Amir (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) distributed sacrificial animals among his companions. Sayyiduna Uqbah (may Allah be pleased with him) received a Jadh'a animal. When he asked the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: You may sacrifice it.
Hadith 4669
عَنْ أَبِي الْخَيْرِ مِنْ طَرِيقٍ ثَانٍ عَنْ عُقْبَةَ بْنِ عَامِرٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَعْطَاهُ غَنَمًا فَقَسَمَهَا عَلَى أَصْحَابِهِ ضَحَايَا فَبَقِيَ عَتُودٌ مِنْهَا فَذَكَرَهُ لِرَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالَ ضَحِّ بِهِ
(Second chain) It is narrated from Sayyiduna Uqbah bin Amir (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) gave him goats so that he could distribute them among the companions of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) as sacrificial animals. Thus, a one-year-old kid (which did not have two permanent teeth) was left. When he informed the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), he said: You may sacrifice it.
Hadith 4670
عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ خَالِدٍ الْجُهَنِيِّ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ قَسَمَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي أَصْحَابِهِ غَنَمًا لِلضَّحَايَا فَأَعْطَانِي عَتُودًا جَذَعًا مِنَ الْمَعْزِ قَالَ فَجِئْتُهُ بِهِ فَقُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ إِنَّهُ جَذَعٌ قَالَ ضَحِّ بِهِ فَضَحَّيْتُ بِهِ
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Zaid bin Khalid Al-Juhani (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) distributed goats among his companions for sacrifice, and he gave me a Jadh'a (young) goat. I brought it to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: O Messenger of Allah! This is a Jadh'a. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: You may sacrifice it. So I sacrificed it.
Hadith 4671
عَنْ عَاصِمِ بْنِ كُلَيْبٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ رَجُلٍ مِنْ مُزَيْنَةَ أَوْ جُهَيْنَةَ قَالَ كَانَ أَصْحَابُ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِذَا كَانَ قَبْلَ الْأَضْحَى بِيَوْمٍ أَوْ بِيَوْمَيْنِ أَعْطَوْا جَذَعَيْنِ وَأَخَذُوا ثَنِيًّا فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِنَّ الْجَذَعَةَ تُجْزِئُ مِمَّا تُجْزِئُ مِنْهُ الثَّنِيَّةُ
A man from the tribe of Muzaynah or Juhaynah narrates that the companions of the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to give two young animals (Jadha') each, a day or two before Eid al-Adha, and in exchange would take one animal with two permanent teeth (Donda). The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Indeed, a young animal (Jadha') suffices for what an animal with two permanent teeth (Donda) suffices.
Hadith 4672
عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ أَبِي يَحْيَى قَالَ حَدَّثَتْنِي أُمِّي عَنْ أُمِّ بِلَالٍ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ ضَحُّوا بِالْجَذَعِ مِنَ الضَّأْنِ فَإِنَّهُ جَائِزٌ
It is narrated from Sayyida Umm Bilal (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Sacrifice a one-year-old sheep of the breed; its sacrifice is permissible.
Hadith 4673
عَنْ أُمِّ بِلَالٍ ابْنَةِ هِلَالٍ عَنْ أَبِيهَا أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ يَجُوزُ الْجَذَعُ مِنَ الضَّأْنِ أُضْحِيَّةً
Sayyidah Bilal (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates from her father Sayyiduna Hilal (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: The sacrifice of a one-year-old sheep is permissible.
