Hadith 4652
Mawla-e-Rasool Sayyiduna Abu Rafi’ (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that when the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) performed the sacrifice, he would purchase two fat, horned, spotted, castrated rams. Then, when he (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) had performed the Eid prayer and delivered the sermon to the people, one ram would be brought while he (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) was still standing in the Eid ground. He (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) would himself slaughter it with a knife and say: O Allah! This is on behalf of my entire Ummah, those who affirmed Your Oneness and bore witness to my Prophethood. Then the second ram would be brought, and he (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) would also slaughter it himself and say: This is on behalf of Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) and the family of Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him and his family). Then he (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) would feed both rams to the poor, and he (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) and his family would also eat from them. Sayyiduna Abu Rafi’ (may Allah be pleased with him) says: Then for many years we saw that none of the Banu Hashim performed the sacrifice, because Allah Almighty, due to this action of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him and his family), had spared them from the burden and expense of sacrifice.
Hadith 4653
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah Ansari (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) sacrificed two rams on the day of Eid. When he (peace and blessings be upon him) laid them down facing the Qiblah, he recited this supplication: "Indeed, I have turned my face towards Him who created the heavens and the earth... In the name of Allah, and Allah is the Greatest. O Allah! (This is) from You and for You, on behalf of Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) and his Ummah." (Surely, I have turned my face towards that Being who created the heavens and the earth, being upright and a Muslim, and I am not among the polytheists. There is no partner with Allah; this is what I have been commanded, and I am the first of the Muslims. With the name of Allah, and Allah is the Greatest. O Allah! This animal is from You and for You, on behalf of Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) and his Ummah.)
Hadith 4654
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik, may Allah be pleased with him, that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, used to sacrifice two rams with horns and speckled color. He, peace and blessings be upon him, would slaughter them by taking the name of Allah and saying Takbeer, and I saw the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, slaughtering them with his own hand, while he, peace and blessings be upon him, had his foot placed on their side.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him), he says: I performed Eid al-Adha with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). When he (peace and blessings be upon him) finished, a ram was brought to him. When he (peace and blessings be upon him) was about to slaughter it, he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "In the name of Allah, and Allah is the Greatest. O Allah! It is narrated from Sayyida Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) ordered for a ram with horns, whose legs were black, the area around its eyes was also black, and its belly was black as well. So it was brought so that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) could offer it as a sacrifice. Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Aisha! Bring the knife." Then he said: "Sharpen it with a stone." So Sayyida did as he said. Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) took the knife and caught the ram, laid it down to slaughter it, and said: (In the name of Allah, O Allah! Accept this on behalf of Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), the family of Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), and the Ummah of Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him)).
