Ziyad bin Jubair says: I was with Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) in Mina, when he passed by a man who was slaughtering his sacrificial animal while it was sitting. So he said: Make it stand up and (slaughter it) while it is standing and tied, and follow the Sunnah of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him).

Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him), describing the manner of the Hajj of the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), says: The total number of sacrificial animals of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was one hundred (100). Some of the animals were brought by Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) from Yemen, and some animals the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) himself took along. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) slaughtered sixty-three animals with his own blessed hand, then gave the remainder to Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him), and he slaughtered them. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) had also included Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) in his sacrificial animals. Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) ordered that a piece be taken from each camel and that they be cooked in pots. Then both of them ate the meat and drank the broth.
