Hadith 4632
Musa bin Salamah says: I and Sinan bin Salamah performed Hajj. Sinan had a sacrificial camel with him. It so happened that the camel became exhausted, stood still, and was unable to walk. I said: When I reach Makkah, I will inquire about this matter. So when we came to Makkah, I said to him: Take us to our master Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both). So we went to him, and there was a slave girl with him. I had two needs, and my companion had one need. Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) said to me: Shall I take you aside? I said: No, I just have one question—that I had a camel, and it became exhausted and stood still. I said: I will inquire about it when I reach Makkah. He replied: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) sent sacrificial camels with such-and-such a man and made him their leader. When that man turned his back to leave, he returned and said: O Messenger of Allah! If a camel becomes exhausted and stands still (and is unable to walk), what should I do with it? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Slaughter it, dye its shoe in its blood, and place it on its side, and neither you nor any member of your group should eat from it.
Hadith 4633
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) sent eighteen sacrificial camels with one man, and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) appointed this man as the leader of this matter. When he set out, he then returned and said: What is your opinion about a camel that becomes exhausted and stands still? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Slaughter it, dye its shoe in its blood, and place it on its side, and neither you nor any member of your group should eat from it. Imam Ahmad said: Ismail bin Ulayyah heard only this hadith from Abu Tiyaah.
Hadith 4634
Narrated from Sayyiduna Najiyah Khuzai (may Allah be pleased with him), who was in charge of the sacrificial camels of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him): He said, "O Messenger of Allah! What should I do with a camel that becomes unable to walk?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Slaughter it, dye its shoe in its blood, and place it on its side. Then move away from it and the people, so that they may eat from it."
Hadith 4635
The Ansari companion who was in charge of the sacrificial camels of the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) narrates... then he narrated a report similar to the previous hadith... however, in this one it is stated: He says: When the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) sent me, I returned and said: Yes, O Messenger of Allah! What command do you give me regarding a camel that becomes unable to walk? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Slaughter it, dye its shoe in its blood, and place it on its side, and neither you nor any man from your group should eat from it.
Hadith 4636
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Qabeesah Dhu’ayb (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) sent two sacrificial camels with him and said: If any of these animals becomes exhausted and unable to walk, and you fear for it, then slaughter it, dye its shoe in its blood, and place it on its side. Neither you yourself are to eat from it, nor any member of your group.
Hadith 4637
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Amr bin Kharijah Thamali, may Allah be pleased with him, who says: I asked the Noble Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, about a sacrificial animal that had become unable to walk. He, peace and blessings be upon him, said: Slaughter it, dye its shoe in its blood, and place it on its side, and neither you nor any member of your group should eat from it.
