بَابُ مَشْرُوعِيَّةِ طَوَافِ الْوَدَاعِ وَسُقُوطِهِ عَنِ الْحَائِضِ وَالدُّعَاءِ عِنْدَ الْمُلْتَزَمِ
Chapter on the Legislation of the Farewell Tawaf, Its Exemption for Menstruating Women, and Supplication at al-Multazam
Hadith 4580
عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُمَا قَالَ: كَانَ النَّاسُ يَنْصَرِفُونَ فِي كُلِّ وَجْهٍ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ: ((لَا يَنْفِرْ أَحَدٌ حَتَّى يَكُونَ آخِرُ عَهْدِهِ بِالْبَيْتِ))
Narrated by Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both): After the rites of Hajj, people were departing from Mina towards their homes, so the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: None of you should go to his home until he has performed the Tawaf of the House (Ka'bah).
Hadith 4581
عَنِ الْوَلِيدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ عَنِ الْحَارِثِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ أَوْسٍ الثَّقَفِيِّ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ: سَأَلْتُ عُمَرَ بْنَ الْخَطَّابِ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ عَنِ الْمَرْأَةِ تَطُوفُ بِالْبَيْتِ ثُمَّ تَحِيضُ؟ قَالَ: لِيَكُنْ آخِرُ عَهْدِهَا الطَّوَافُ بِالْبَيْتِ قُلْتُ: كَذَلِكَ أَفْتَانِي رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالَ عُمَرُ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ: أَرَبْتَ عَنْ يَدَيَّ سَأَلْتَنِي عَنْ شَيْءٍ سَأَلْتَ عَنْهُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ لِكَيْ مَا أُخَالِفَ
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Harith bin Abdullah Thaqafi (may Allah be pleased with him), he says: I asked Sayyiduna Umar bin Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) that if a woman becomes menstruating after performing the Tawaf al-Ifadah, what should she do? He said: Her last act should be the Tawaf of the House of Allah (i.e., the Farewell Tawaf). I (Harith, may Allah be pleased with him) said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) gave me this ruling. Upon hearing this, Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said: May your hands be broken! You ask me about something you have already asked the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), so that I might oppose him?
Hadith 4582
(وَمِنْ طَرِيقٍ ثَانٍ) قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ: ((مَنْ حَجَّ الْبَيْتَ أَوِ اعْتَمَرَ فَلْيَكُنْ آخِرُ عَهْدِهِ الطَّوَافُ بِالْبَيْتِ)) فَقَالَ لَهُ عُمَرُ بْنُ الْخَطَّابِ: خَرَرْتَ مِنْ يَدَيَّ سَمِعْتَ هَذَا مِنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ ثُمَّ لَمْ تُحَدِّثْنِي (وَفِي لَفْظٍ) فَلَمْ تُخْبِرْنَا بِهِ
(Second chain) (Sayyiduna Harith رضي الله عنه said:) The Messenger of Allah صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم said: Whoever performs Hajj or Umrah, his last act (before departure) should be bidding farewell to the House of Allah. Upon hearing this, Sayyiduna Umar bin Khattab رضي الله عنه said: May you perish! You heard this hadith from the Messenger of Allah صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم and yet you did not inform us about it.
Hadith 4583
عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُمَا أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ رَخَّصَ لِلْحَائِضِ أَنْ تَصْدُرَ قَبْلَ أَنْ تَطُوفَ إِنْ كَانَتْ قَدْ طَافَتْ فِي الْإِفَاضَةِ
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) granted permission to a menstruating woman to return (to her homeland) without performing the Farewell Tawaf, provided that she had already performed the Tawaf al-Ifadah.
Hadith 4584
عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ صَفْوَانَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ: رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ مُلْتَزِمًا الْبَيْتَ مَا بَيْنَ الْحَجَرِ وَالْبَابِ وَرَأَيْتُ النَّاسَ مُلْتَزِمِينَ الْبَيْتَ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ
Narrated by Sayyiduna Abdur Rahman bin Safwan (may Allah be pleased with him): He said, I saw the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) clinging to the House of Allah between the Black Stone and the door of the Ka'bah, and I saw other people also clinging to the House of Allah along with him (peace and blessings be upon him).
