Sayyiduna Nabit bin Shurit says: On the occasion of the Farewell Pilgrimage, I was riding with my father when the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) began to deliver a sermon. I stood at the back of the mount and placed my hand on my father's shoulder. I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "Which sanctuary is the most sacred?" The people said: "Today's day." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Which city is the most sacred?" The people said: "This city." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Which month is the most sacred?" The people said: "This month." Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Your blood and your wealth are as sacred and inviolable to one another as the sanctity of this day, this month, and this city. O people! Have I conveyed the message of Allah to you?" The people said: "Yes." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "O Allah! Bear witness, O Allah! Bear witness."
