Hadith 4370
Barrah narrates that a man came to Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) and asked him: Is it permissible for me to perform Tawaf of the House of Allah while in the state of Ihram (for Hajj Ifrad)? He replied: What thing can prevent you from doing so? The man said: So-and-so is forbidding us from doing so until the people return from Arafat, and I have seen that the world has involved him in tribulation, but in our view, you are superior to him. Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) said: When the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) performed Hajj, he performed Tawaf of the House of Allah and Sa’i between Safa and Marwah. If what you say is true, that so-and-so forbids you from performing Tawaf while in Ihram, then remember that the way of Allah and His Messenger is superior to the way of so-and-so.
Hadith 4371
(Second chain) Wabra reports that a man said to Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them): I am in the state of Ihram for Hajj, so can I perform Tawaf of the House of Allah in this state? Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them) said: What is the harm in that? He said: Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them) has prohibited it. Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them) said: I myself have seen that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) was in the state of Ihram for Hajj and he performed Tawaf of the House of Allah and also performed Sa’i between Safa and Marwah.
Hadith 4372
It is narrated from Abdullah bin Badr that he set out for Hajj with some of his friends. When they reached Makkah Mukarramah, they entered Masjid al-Haram and performed Istilam of Hajar al-Aswad. Then we performed seven circuits (Tawaf) around the House of Allah, after which we offered two rak'ahs of prayer behind Maqam Ibrahim. Meanwhile, we saw a heavyset man, who had wrapped one sheet around his waist and draped another over his shoulders, sitting by the pool and calling us. We went towards him. When I inquired about who this man was, people told me that he was Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both). When we reached him, he asked: Who are you people? We said: We are the people of Yamamah, who have come from the east. He asked: Have you come for Hajj or for Umrah? I said: We have come for Hajj. He said: You people have invalidated your Hajj. I said: I have performed Hajj many times and have always done it this way. After that, we went to our place of residence so that Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) would come and we could ask him about this issue. I said: O Abdullah bin Umar! We have come to perform Hajj, then we narrated the whole incident to him and said that Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) told us that our Hajj has become invalid. Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) said: I ask you by Allah, tell me, have you come to perform Hajj? We said: Yes. He said: By Allah! The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), Sayyiduna Abu Bakr and Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both), all performed Hajj and all did it in the same way as you have done, meaning your action is correct.
