بَابُ جَوَازِ الطَّوَافِ عَلَى بَعِيرِهِ وَغَيْرِهِ وَاسْتِلَامِ الْحَجَرِ بِمِحْجَنٍ وَنَحْوِهِ لِحَاجَةٍ)
Chapter: Permissibility of Performing Tawaf on a Camel or Otherwise, and Touching the Stone with a Staff or Similar if Needed
Hadith 4358
عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُمَا قَالَ: جَاءَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَكَانَ قَدِ اشْتَكَى، فَطَافَ بِالْبَيْتِ عَلَى بَعِيرٍ وَمَعَهُ مِحْجَنٌ، كُلَّمَا مَرَّ عَلَيْهِ اسْتَلَمَهُ بِهِ، فَلَمَّا فَرَغَ مِنْ طَوَافِهِ أَنَاخَ فَصَلَّى رَكْعَتَيْنِ
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) came to Makkah Mukarramah. At that time, he was somewhat ill, so he performed Tawaf while riding a camel. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) had a staff with him; when he passed by the Black Stone, he would touch the Black Stone with it. Then, when he (peace and blessings be upon him) finished the Tawaf, he made the camel sit down and performed two units of prayer.
Hadith 4359
((وَعَنْهُ مِنْ طَرِيقٍ ثَانٍ) بِنَحْوِهِ وَفِيهِ قَالَ:) وَأَتَى السِّقَايَةَ فَقَالَ: ((اسْقُونِي)) فَقَالُوا: إِنَّ هَذَا يَخُوضُهُ النَّاسُ وَلَكِنَّا نَأْتِيكَ بِهِ مِنَ الْبَيْتِ، فَقَالَ: ((لَا حَاجَةَ لِي فِيهِ، اسْقُونِي مِمَّا يَشْرَبُ مِنْهُ النَّاسُ))
. (Second Chain) This hadith is also narrated through a second chain in the same manner, except that in it is mentioned: After performing tawaf, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) came to the place where Zamzam water was being served and said: Give me some to drink as well. They said: This water is constantly being affected by people; we will bring you (clean) water from the house. But the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: There is no need for that; serve me from the same place where people are drinking.
Hadith 4360
عَنْ أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهَا أَنَّهَا قَدِمَتْ وَهِيَ مَرِيضَةٌ فَذَكَرَتْ ذَلِكَ لِلنَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالَ: ((طُوفِي مِنْ وَرَاءِ النَّاسِ وَأَنْتِ رَاكِبَةٌ)) قَالَتْ: فَسَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَهُوَ عِنْدَ الْكَعْبَةِ يَقْرَأُ بِالطُّورِ، قَالَ أَبِي: وَقَرَأْتُهُ عَلَى عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ، قَالَتْ: فَطُفْتُ وَرَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ حِينَئِذٍ يُصَلِّي بِجَنْبِ الْبَيْتِ، وَهُوَ يَقْرَأُ بِالطُّورِ وَكِتَابٍ مَسْطُورٍ
It is narrated from Sayyida Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her) that when she came to Makkah Mukarramah, she was ill at that time. She mentioned this to the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and he (peace and blessings be upon him) said to her: "You may perform Tawaf riding (an animal), keeping away from the people." She says: "The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) was near the Ka'bah and was reciting Surah At-Tur." Imam Ahmad says: "I recited this narration to Abdur Rahman: Sayyida Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her) says: So I performed Tawaf while the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) was at that time praying on one side of the House of Allah and was reciting Surah At-Tur in it."
Hadith 4361
عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُمَا عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنَّهُ طَافَ بِالْبَيْتِ عَلَى نَاقَةٍ (وَفِي لَفْظٍ عَلَى رَاحِلَتِهِ) يَسْتَلِمُ الْحَجَرَ بِمِحْجَنِهِ وَبَيْنَ الصَّفَا وَالْمَرْوَةِ
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) performed Tawaf of the House of Allah on his camel, and he (peace and blessings be upon him) touched the Black Stone with his staff, and he (peace and blessings be upon him) also performed Sa’i between Safa and Marwah while riding.
Hadith 4362
وَعَنْهُ أَيْضًا قَالَ: طَافَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَلَى بَعِيرٍ فَكُلَّمَا أَتَى عَلَى الرُّكْنِ أَشَارَ إِلَيْهِ وَكَبَّرَ
It is also narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) performed Tawaf while riding his camel. When he (peace and blessings be upon him) came in front of the Black Stone, he would point towards it and say: "Allahu Akbar."
Hadith 4363
عَنْ أَبِي الطُّفَيْلِ عَامِرِ بْنِ وَاثِلَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ: رَأَيْتُ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَأَنَا غُلَامٌ شَابٌّ يَطُوفُ بِالْبَيْتِ عَلَى رَاحِلَتِهِ يَسْتَلِمُ الْحَجَرَ بِمِحْجَنِهِ
Narrated by Sayyiduna Abu Tufail Amir bin Wathila (may Allah be pleased with him), he says: I saw the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him and his family) performing Tawaf of the Ka'bah while riding on his mount, and he was touching the Black Stone with his staff, while I was young at that time.
