Hadith 4244
Narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with him), a man asked: O Messenger of Allah! What kind of clothing can a Muhrim wear? Or he said: What kind of clothing can a Muhrim not wear? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: He cannot wear a shirt, trousers, turban, or socks. However, if he does not find shoes, he may wear socks after cutting them below the ankles. Similarly, he cannot wear a cloak or a burnous, nor can he wear clothes that have been scented with wars or saffron.
Hadith 4245
. (Second chain) This hadith is also similar to the previous hadith, except that it contains these additional words: And a woman in ihram should neither wear a face veil nor gloves.
Hadith 4246

(Third chain) The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: A person in the state of ihram cannot wear a coat or a cloak, a shirt, a turban, trousers, or socks. If shoes are not available, he may use socks after cutting them below the ankles. He also cannot wear any cloth that has been scented with wars or saffron, unless it has been washed.
Hadith 4247
(4th Chain) It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) that I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) saying on this pulpit, while he was forbidding people during Ihram from those matters which are disliked for them. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Do not tie turbans in the state of Ihram, ... . The rest of the hadith is similar to the previous hadith.

Imam Nafi’, whose wife was the umm walad of Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with him), narrates that Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) bought a slave girl on the way to Makkah Mukarramah and, after freeing her, ordered her to perform Hajj with him. Then Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) searched for shoes for her, but they could not be found, so he cut the socks below the ankles. Ibn Ishaq says: When I mentioned this to Ibn Shihab, he said that Salim has narrated that Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) used to do this, but later, when Safiyyah bint Abi Ubaid informed Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) that Sayyidah Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) had narrated that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) used to permit socks for women, upon hearing this, Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) abandoned this practice.
Hadith 4254
Imam Nafi’ says: Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) began to feel intense cold while in the state of Ihram, so he said: “Put some cloth over me.” I put a coat over him, but he removed it and said: “You are putting such a cloth over me which the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade the Muhrim from wearing.”
Hadith 4255
Safwan bin Ya’la bin Umayyah narrates that Sayyiduna Ya’la used to say to Sayyiduna Umar bin Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) that I wish I could see the state of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) when revelation was being sent down upon him. Later, one day when the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was at the place of Ji’ranah, a cloth was providing shade over him, the companions were also with him, and Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) was present as well. During this time, a man came to the service of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), wearing a cloak and emitting fragrance. He said: O Messenger of Allah! What is your opinion about a man who, after applying perfume well, puts on the Ihram for ‘Umrah in a cloak? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) looked at him for a while and then remained silent. Revelation began to descend upon him. Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) gestured to Sayyiduna Ya’la (may Allah be pleased with him) to come closer, so Sayyiduna Ya’la (may Allah be pleased with him) came and put his head under the cloth. He saw that the blessed face of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was turning red and he was snoring. This state remained for a while, then it passed. Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Where is the man who was just asking about ‘Umrah? When that person was found and brought, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Wash off the perfume that is on you three times thoroughly, and take off this cloak, and perform all the rest of the acts for ‘Umrah as you do for Hajj.
Hadith 4256
. (Second chain) Sayyidna Ali bin Umayyah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that a Bedouin came to the service of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), while he was wearing a cloak and the marks of saffron fragrance were clearly visible on it. He said: O Messenger of Allah! I have entered into Ihram in the state in which you see me, while people are making fun of me. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) lowered his head for a while, then he called that person and said to him: Take off this cloak and wash off this saffron, and perform the rest of the Umrah as you do in Hajj.
Hadith 4257
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) that a man (during the journey of Hajj) was with the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), his camel threw him off and due to this he died while still in the state of Ihram. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Bathe him with water and lotus leaves, shroud him in his two garments, do not apply perfume to him, nor cover his head, for he will be raised on the Day of Resurrection reciting the Talbiyah.
Hadith 4258
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) that when the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) would enter into the state of Ihram, he used to apply such oil which did not have any fragrance.
