It Contains Three Sections—First Section: What Has Been Reported Regarding Its Words and Virtue
Hadith 4229
عَنْ أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهَا قَالَتْ: سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ: ((يَا آلَ مُحَمَّدٍ! مَنْ حَجَّ مِنْكُمْ فَلْيُهِلَّ فِي حَجِّهِ أَوْ حَجَّتِهِ))، شَكَّ أَبُو عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ
Lady Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her) says: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: O family of Muhammad! Whoever among you performs Hajj should recite the Talbiyah.
Hadith 4230
عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ قَالَ: أَتَيْتُ عَلَى ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُمَا بِعَرَفَةَ وَهُوَ يَأْكُلُ رُمَّانًا، فَقَالَ: أَفْطَرَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِعَرَفَةَ وَقَدْ بَعَثَتْ إِلَيْهِ أُمُّ الْفَضْلِ بِلَبَنٍ فَشَرِبَهُ، وَقَالَ: لَعَنَ اللَّهُ فُلَانًا، عَمَدُوا إِلَى أَعْظَمِ أَيَّامِ الْحَجِّ، فَمَحَوْا زِينَتَهُ، وَإِنَّمَا زِينَةُ الْحَجِّ التَّلْبِيَةُ
Saeed bin Jubair says: I was present with Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) at Arafah; he was eating pomegranate. He said that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) did not fast at Arafah. Sayyidah Umm Fadl (may Allah be pleased with her) had sent milk to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), which he drank. Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: May Allah curse such-and-such a man; he intended the greatest day among the days of Hajj and erased its adornment. The adornment of Hajj is the Talbiyah.
Hadith 4231
عَنْ خَلَّادِ بْنِ السَّائِبِ بْنِ خَلَّادٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: ((أَتَانِي جِبْرِيلُ عَلَيْهِ السَّلَامُ فَقَالَ: مُرْ أَصْحَابَكَ فَلْيَرْفَعُوا أَصْوَاتَهُمْ بِالْإِهْلَالِ))
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Sa’ib bin Khallad (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Jibreel (peace be upon him) came to me and said: Command your companions to raise their voices when reciting the Talbiyah.
Hadith 4232
(وَعَنْهُ مِنْ طَرِيقٍ ثَانٍ) عَنْ أَبِيهِ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ قَالَ: أَتَانِي جِبْرِيلُ عَلَيْهِ السَّلَامُ فَقَالَ: أَنْ آمُرَ أَصْحَابِي أَوْ مَنْ مَعِيَ أَنْ يَرْفَعُوا أَصْوَاتَهُمْ بِالتَّلْبِيَةِ، أَوْ بِالْإِهْلَالِ يُرِيدُ أَحْدَهُمَا
(Second chain) It is narrated from Sayyiduna Sa’ib bin Khallad (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Jibreel (peace be upon him) came to me and told me to command my companions or friends to recite the Talbiyah aloud.
