Hadith 4017
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Dharr (may Allah be pleased with him), he says: O Messenger of Allah! Tell me about the Night of Qadr, is it in the month of Ramadan or in some other month? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: It is in the month of Ramadan. I said: Does this night remain as long as the Prophet of Allah is present in the world, and when he departs from this world, is it also taken away, or will it remain until the Day of Judgment? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: No, it will remain until the Day of Judgment. I said: In which part of Ramadan does it occur? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Seek it in the first or last ten nights. Then the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) mentioned various things, but in between, taking advantage of a momentary distraction due to your engagement, I suddenly asked: Which of these twenty nights could be the Night of Qadr? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Seek it in the last ten nights, now do not ask me any more questions after this. Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) continued the conversation, and again, finding an opportunity and taking advantage of your momentary distraction due to engagement, I asked: O Messenger of Allah! By the right I have upon you, I ask you to tell me which of these ten nights is the Night of Qadr? Upon hearing this, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) became so angry with me that since I had been in his company, he had never been so angry with me before. Nevertheless, then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) replied: Seek it in the last seven nights, now do not ask any more questions after this.
Hadith 4018
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) says: People would see various dreams and narrate them before the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). One day, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: I am hearing your dreams; they correspond to the last seven nights of Ramadan. Therefore, whoever among you wishes to seek Laylat al-Qadr should seek it in the last seven nights.
Hadith 4019
(Second chain) The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: Seek the Night of Qadr in the last ten or the last nine nights.
Hadith 4020
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas, may Allah be pleased with him, that the Noble Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, came towards the companions with such haste that seeing his urgency, we became anxious. When he, peace and blessings be upon him, reached us, he said: I was coming quickly to inform you about the Night of Qadr, but what I wanted to tell you was made to be forgotten on the way. Nevertheless, you should seek this night in the last ten nights of the month of Ramadan.
Hadith 4021
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) said: Seek the Night of Qadr in the last ten nights of Ramadan. If you are unable to do so, then do not fall short in seeking it in the last seven nights.
