Hadith 4009
عَنْ عَلِيٍّ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ: كَانَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ يُوقِظُ أَهْلَهُ (وَفِي لَفْظٍ: نِسَاءَهُ) فِي الْعَشْرِ الْأَوَاخِرِ مِنْ رَمَضَانَ
Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) used to keep his family awake for worship during the last ten days of Ramadan.
Hadith 4010
(وَعَنْهُ مِنْ طَرِيقٍ ثَانٍ): قَالَ: كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِذَا دَخَلَ الْعَشْرُ أَيْقَظَ أَهْلَهُ وَرَفَعَ الْمِئْزَرَ، (وَفِي لَفْظٍ: وَشَدَّ الْمِئْزَرَ)، قِيلَ لِأَبِي بَكْرٍ: مَا رَفَعَ الْمِئْزَرَ؟ قَالَ: اعْتِزَالُ النِّسَاءِ
. (Second chain) When the last ten days of Ramadan began, the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, would keep his family awake and tighten his waistcloth. Someone asked Abu Bakr bin Ayyash: What is the meaning of "tightening the waistcloth"? He said: Separation from wives.
Hadith 4011
عَنْ مَسْرُوقٍ عَنْ عَائِشَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهَا تَذْكُرُ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ إِذَا دَخَلَ الْعَشْرُ أَحْيَا اللَّيْلَ، وَأَيْقَظَ أَهْلَهُ وَشَدَّ الْمِئْزَرَ
Lady Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates that when the last ten days of Ramadan began, he (the Prophet) would stay awake at night himself and also keep his family awake, and he would tighten his waistcloth.
Hadith 4012
(وَعَنْهَا مِنْ طَرِيقٍ ثَانٍ): قَالَتْ: كَانَ يَخْلِطُ فِي الْعِشْرِينَ الْأُولَى النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ مِنْ نَوْمٍ وَصَلَاةٍ، فَإِذَا دَخَلَتِ الْعَشْرُ جَدَّ وَشَدَّ الْمِئْزَرَ
(Second chain) Sayyida Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) says that during the first twenty days of Ramadan, the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would sleep at night as well as pray, but when the last ten days began, he would exert himself greatly in worship and tighten his waistcloth.
Hadith 4013
(وَعَنْهَا مِنْ طَرِيقٍ ثَالِثٍ) قَالَتْ: كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَجْتَهِدُ فِي الْعَشْرِ مَا لَا يَجْتَهِدُ فِي غَيْرِهِ
(Third chain) Sayyida Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) says that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) used to exert himself in worship during the last ten days of Ramadan more than he did at any other time.
