Hadith 3825
Lady Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates that Sayyiduna Hamza bin Amr Aslami (may Allah be pleased with him) came to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: O Messenger of Allah! I observe fasts continuously; should I fast while traveling? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: If you wish, then fast, and if you wish, then leave it.
Hadith 3826
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Darda (may Allah be pleased with him), he says: We were on a journey with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), and the heat was so intense that some of us would place our hands on our heads, and besides the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Rawaha (may Allah be pleased with him), none among us was fasting.
Hadith 3827
Narrated by Sayyiduna Salamah bin Muhaiq (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Whoever has a mount that can take him to a place where there is food, then wherever Ramadan finds him, he should fast.
Hadith 3828
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Sa'id Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him), he says: We used to go on expeditions with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), some of us would fast and some would not. The fasting ones would not show displeasure towards those who did not fast, and those who did not fast would not show displeasure towards those who fasted. Their view was that whoever had the strength to fast while traveling and he fasted, then that was good for him, and whoever felt weakness and did not fast, then that was good for him.
Hadith 3829
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) said: Neither was there any blame on the one who fasted during travel, nor on the one who broke the fast, because the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) both fasted and left the fast during travel.
Hadith 3830
Syedna Abu Saeed Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) says: We traveled towards Makkah Mukarramah in the company of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) while we were fasting. We camped at a place, and there the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "You have come close to the enemy, and it is more beneficial for you not to fast." Since this was a concession, some of us kept the fast and some did not. After that, when we camped at another place, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) again said: "In the morning you will attack the enemy, and it is more beneficial for you not to fast, so do not fast." This was a definite command from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), so we all abandoned fasting. However, I saw that even after this, we, the companions, used to fast while traveling with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him).
Hadith 3831
(Second chain) Sayyiduna Abu Sa'id (may Allah be pleased with him) says: In the year of the conquest of Makkah, when the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) reached the place of Maraz-Zahran, he informed us about facing the enemy and ordered us to break the fast, so all of us left the fast.
Hadith 3832
It is narrated from a Companion (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) kept a fast during the journey in the year of the conquest of Makkah, but he ordered the Companions not to fast and said: "You are going to face the enemy, therefore (by leaving the fast) gain strength." Someone said: "O Messenger of Allah! People are also fasting based on your fasting." So when the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) reached the place of Kadid, he broke his fast. The one who narrated to me also said: "I saw that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) used to pour water over his head because of the heat, while he was in the state of fasting."
Hadith 3833
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik, may Allah be pleased with him, that the Noble Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, was on a journey during the month of Ramadan. A vessel was presented to him, and he placed it on his hand. When the people saw the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, they also broke their fast.
Hadith 3834
Narrated by Sayyiduna Umar bin Khattab, may Allah be pleased with him, he says: We went on an expedition with the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, in the month of Ramadan, and the conquest of Makkah also took place in the month of Ramadan. In any case, we did not fast during both of these expeditions.
