Hadith 3819
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that a Bedouin came to the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) striking his face with his hands and pulling his hair, and said: "I think I am ruined." The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) asked him: "What has ruined you?" He replied: "I had intercourse with my wife during Ramadan while fasting." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked: "Can you afford to free a slave (male or female)?" He said: "No." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked: "Can you fast for two consecutive months?" He said: "No." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked: "Can you feed sixty needy people?" He said: "No," and then he also mentioned his poverty and destitution. Meanwhile, a basket containing fifteen saa’ of dates was brought to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked: "Where is that man?" Then he said: "Take these dates and feed (the needy) with them." The man said: "O Messenger of Allah! There is no household between the two Harrahs (the two stony tracts of Madinah) more in need than mine." Upon hearing this, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) laughed so much that his molar teeth became visible, and then he said: "Then feed your family with it."
