6 hadith
Hadith 3803
It is also narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah, may Allah be pleased with him, that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: Many fasting people are such that they gain nothing from their fast except hunger and thirst, and many who stand in prayer at night gain nothing from their standing except wakefulness.
Hadith 3804
Narrated by Sayyiduna Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him), the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) said: Whoever does not give up false speech, acting upon it, and ignorance, then Allah has no need for him to give up his food and drink.
Hadith 3805
Mawla-e-Rasool Sayyiduna Ubaid (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that two women were fasting and a man informed about them: "O Messenger of Allah! There are two women here, they are fasting but due to the intensity of thirst, they are near death." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) turned away from that man or remained silent. He repeated his statement, and I think it was the time of intense midday heat. He said: "O Prophet of Allah! By Allah, both of them have died or are near death." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Call them." Both of them came and a bowl was also brought. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to one woman: "Vomit into this." She vomited blood, pus, and flesh, filling half the bowl. Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to the other woman: "You also vomit." She too vomited pus, blood, and pieces of fresh flesh, and this time the bowl was filled. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "They left what Allah made lawful and fasted, but with what Allah made unlawful for them, they ruined their fasts, and that is that both of them sat and ate the flesh of people, meaning they engaged in backbiting."
Hadith 3806
Mawla of the Messenger, Sayyiduna Sa’d or Sayyiduna Ubayd (may Allah be pleased with them) narrates that people were commanded to fast. A man came during the day and said: O Messenger of Allah! Such-and-such man and woman are in great hardship because of fasting. After this, the meaning of the hadith of Sulaiman was mentioned.
Hadith 3807
The Master of the Messenger narrates that people were commanded to fast for one day. During a part of the day, a man came and said: O Messenger of Allah! Such-and-such women are in great hardship because of the fast, but you, peace and blessings be upon you, turned away from him, … .
Hadith 3808
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah, may Allah be pleased with him, that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said three times: Avoid continuous fasting (wisal). The companions said: O Messenger of Allah! You yourself observe continuous fasting? He, peace and blessings be upon him, said: You are not like me in this matter. I spend the night in such a state that my Lord feeds me and gives me drink. You should do only as much as you have the strength for.
