بَابُ مَا جَاءَ مُشْتَرَكًا فِي تَعْجِيلِ الْفِطْرِ وَتَأْخِيرِ السَّحُورِ
Chapter: What Has Been Reported Jointly Regarding Hastening to Break the Fast and Delaying Suhur
Hadith 3720
عَنْ أَبِي ذَرٍّ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ: ((لَا تَزَالُ أُمَّتِي بِخَيْرٍ مَا عَجَّلُوا الْفِطْرَ وَأَخَّرُوا السُّحُورَ))
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Dharr (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: My Ummah will remain upon goodness as long as they hasten in breaking the fast and delay in eating the pre-dawn meal (suhoor).
Hadith 3721
عَنْ أَبِي عَطِيَّةَ قَالَ: دَخَلْتُ أَنَا وَمَسْرُوقٌ عَلَى عَائِشَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهَا فَقُلْنَا لَهَا: يَا أُمَّ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ! رَجُلَانِ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ مُحَمَّدٍ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَحَدُهُمَا يُعَجِّلُ الْإِفْطَارَ وَيُعَجِّلُ الصَّلَاةَ، وَالْآخَرُ يُؤَخِّرُ الْإِفْطَارَ وَيُؤَخِّرُ الصَّلَاةَ، قَالَ: فَقُلْتُ: أَيُّهُمَا يُعَجِّلُ الْإِفْطَارَ وَيُعَجِّلُ الصَّلَاةَ؟ قَالَ: قُلْنَا: عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مَسْعُودٍ، قَالَتْ: كَذَاكَ كَانَ يَصْنَعُ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ، وَالْآخَرُ أَبُو مُوسَى
Abu Atiyyah says: I and Masruq presented ourselves before Sayyidah Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) and said: O Mother of the Believers! Among the companions, there are two men; one of them breaks his fast early and performs the prayer early, and the other delays breaking his fast and also delays the prayer. She asked: Who among them is the one who hastens in breaking the fast and performing the prayer? We said: He is Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him). She said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) used to do the same. The other (the one who delays) is Sayyiduna Abu Musa Ash'ari (may Allah be pleased with him).
Hadith 3722
(وَعَنْهُ مِنْ طَرِيقٍ ثَانٍ): قَالَ: قُلْنَا لِعَائِشَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهَا: رَجُلَانِ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ مُحَمَّدٍ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَحَدُهُمَا يُعَجِّلُ الْمَغْرِبَ وَيُعَجِّلُ الْإِفْطَارَ، وَالْآخَرُ يُؤَخِّرُ الْمَغْرِبَ وَيُؤَخِّرُ الْإِفْطَارَ، فَذَكَرَهُ
. (Second chain) Abu Atiyyah says: We said to Sayyidah Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her): One companion hastens in performing the Maghrib prayer and in breaking the fast, and another companion delays the Maghrib prayer and also delays breaking the fast, ... ... .
