5 hadith
Hadith 3709
Under this chapter, the following sub-chapters and hadiths have been mentioned.
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abi Awfa (may Allah be pleased with him) says: We were on a journey with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) during the month of Ramadan. When the sun set, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: O so-and-so! Get down and prepare sattu (a drink made from roasted grains) for us. He said: O Messenger of Allah! The day still remains. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) again said: Get down and prepare sattu. So he did this. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) took the sattu and drank it. After that, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) pointed towards the west with his hand and said: When the sun sets on this side and night comes from that side (the east), then it is time for the fasting person to break his fast.

(Second chain) Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abi Awfa (may Allah be pleased with him) says: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) was on a journey, and since he was fasting, at the time of breaking the fast, he called the one responsible for providing a drink and ordered him to bring a beverage. The man replied: O Messenger of Allah! Let it become evening first. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) called him again, and he again said: O Messenger of Allah! Let it become evening first. This happened three times, then the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: When night comes from the (east), then it is time to break the fast. In another narration, it is stated: When you see that night has come from the (east), then it is time for the fasting person to break the fast.
