Narrated by Sayyiduna Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him), the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: A gentle word is also charity, and a step taken towards prayer or the mosque is also charity. When a person walks on his feet to go, that too is charity.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Musa Ash'ari (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: It is necessary for every Muslim to give charity. He said: If a person does not have the ability to give charity, then what should he do? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: He should work with his own hands, benefit himself, and also give charity. He said: If he does not have the strength to work, then what should he do? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Then he should help someone in need or distress. He said: If he cannot do even that, then? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: He should enjoin good or justice. He said: If he does not have the ability to do even that? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: He should refrain from evil; this is also charity for him.
