Hadith 3573
Under this chapter, the following sub-chapters and hadiths have been mentioned.
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Jarir bin Abdullah Bajali, he says: One day we were present in the service of the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, and the day was just beginning. Some people came to the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, who had no shoes on their feet and were not fully clothed; they had wrapped themselves in blankets or cloaks and had swords hanging from their shoulders. Most of them, or rather all of them, were from the tribe of Mudar. When the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, saw their state of poverty, his blessed face changed. He went into his house, and when he came out, he ordered Sayyiduna Bilal, may Allah be pleased with him, to give the call to prayer and the iqamah. Then the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, led the prayer, and after that he delivered a sermon and recited these verses: {یَااَیُّہَا النَّاسُ اتَّقُوْا رَبَّکُمُ الَّذِی خَلَقَکُمْ مِنْ نَفْسٍ وَاحِدَۃٍ إِنَّ اللّٰہَ کَانَ عَلَیْکُمْ رَقِیْبًا وَخَلَقَ مِنْھَا زَوْجَھَا وَبَثَّ مِنْھُمَا رِجَالًا کَثِیْرًا وَّنِسَائً وَّ اتَّقُوْا اللّٰہَ الَّذِیْ تَسَائَ لُوْنَ بِہٖوَالْاَرْحَامَاِنَّاللّٰہَکَانَعَلَیْکُمْ رَقِیْبًا۔} That is: O people! Fear your Lord, who created you from a single soul and created from it its mate and spread from both of them many men and women. And fear Allah, through whom you ask one another, and the ties of kinship. Surely Allah is ever an Observer over you. He also recited this verse from Surah Al-Hashr: {یَا اَیُّھَا الَّذِیْنَ اٰمَنُوْا اتَّقُوْا اللّٰہَ وَلْتَنْظُرْ نَفْسٌ مَا قَدَّمَتْ لِغَدٍ وَّاتَّقُوْا اللّٰہَ اِنَّ اللّٰہَ خَبِیْرٌ بِمَا تَعْمَلُوْنَ۔} That is: O you who believe! Fear Allah, and let every soul look to what it has sent forth for tomorrow, and fear Allah. Surely Allah is well aware of what you do. Upon hearing this address, someone brought a dinar, someone a dirham, someone brought clothing, someone brought a measure of wheat, and someone brought a measure of dates, and someone even brought a piece of a date. Meanwhile, an Ansari came carrying a bag (which was so heavy that) it seemed his hand would be unable to carry it, and indeed he became unable to carry it. Seeing this, people began to bring charity one after another, until two heaps of food and clothing were formed. I saw that the face of the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, was shining and looked golden. The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: Whoever introduces a good practice in Islam, he will have the reward for it and the reward of all those who act upon it after him, without their rewards being diminished in the least. And whoever introduces a bad practice in Islam, he will bear the burden of it and the burden of all those who act upon it after him, without their burdens being diminished in the least.
Hadith 3574
Narrated by Sayyiduna Buraidah Aslami (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Whenever a person gives charity, it breaks the jaws of seventy devils.
Hadith 3575
Narrated from Sayyiduna ‘Adi bin Hatim Ta’i (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Each one of you will have his Lord speak to him, with no interpreter between him and his Lord. When the servant looks to his right, he will see only what he has sent forth; when he looks to his left, he will see only what he has sent forth; and when he looks in front of him, he will see the Fire facing him. Then the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: So let any man among you protect his face from the Fire, even if it be by giving half a date in charity.
Hadith 3576
(3576) (Second Chain) The Noble Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him and his family, said: Whoever among you has the ability to protect himself from the Fire, let him give charity, even if it is only in the form of half a date. And whoever does not have even that, then let him try to protect himself (from Hell) through good words.
Hadith 3577
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Uqbah bin Amir (may Allah be pleased with him), he said that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: On the Day of Resurrection, every person will be under the shade of his charity. Yazid bin Abi Habib says: Abu Khayr Mirthad used to give charity every day, whether it was a cake, an onion, or something of that sort.
Hadith 3578
. (Second chain) Yazid says: Whenever Mirthad bin Abdullah would come to the mosque, he would have something with him to give in charity. One day when he came, he had an onion with him. I said: Abu al-Khair! What will you do with this? It will make your clothes smell bad. He said: Nephew! By Allah, today there was nothing else in my house to give in charity except this. A companion narrated to me that the Noble Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: On the Day of Resurrection, a believer’s charity will provide him shade.
Hadith 3579
A companion of the Messenger of Allah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: On the Day of Resurrection, the shade of the believer will be his charity.
Hadith 3580
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Umamah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: O son of Adam! If you spend what is surplus to your needs in the way of Allah, it will be better for you, and if you keep it saved, it will be bad for you. However, there is no blame on you for keeping what is necessary. And when you spend, begin with those whose maintenance is your responsibility, and the upper hand is better than the lower hand (i.e., the giving hand is better than the receiving hand).
Hadith 3581
Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) also narrated from the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) a narration similar to the previous hadith.
Hadith 3582
It is also narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: At one of the gates of the sky, an angel calls out: Who will give a loan today, so that it may be repaid to him tomorrow (on the Day of Resurrection)? And at another gate, an angel says: O Allah! Grant the spender the best substitute and destroy the wealth of the miser.
Hadith 3583
It is narrated from Sayyida Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said to her: "Aisha! Protect yourself from the Fire (by making arrangements for it), even if it is by giving only a piece of a date, for this benefits a hungry person just as it does a satiated one."
Hadith 3584
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Masood (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Each of you should protect his face from the Fire, even if it is by giving half a date in charity.
Hadith 3585
Sayyiduna Haritha bin Wahb (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Give charity, for a time will soon come when a man will go out with his charity, and whomever he wishes to give it to will say, "If you had brought it yesterday, I would have accepted it, but now I have no need of it." Thus, he will not find anyone who will accept his charity.
Hadith 3586
Syedna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) says: I was walking with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) in a date orchard of Madinah Munawwarah. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Abu Hurairah! Those who possess much wealth have been ruined, except for those who spend their wealth here, give it there, and distribute it in this direction." Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) gestured with his hand to the right, to the left, and in front, but such people are few.
Hadith 3587
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas’ud (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Who among you is there who loves the wealth of his heir more than his own wealth? The Companions said: O Messenger of Allah! Each of us loves his own wealth more than that of his heir. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Then remember, the wealth of each of you which is dearest to him is actually the wealth of his heir. Your wealth is only that which you have spent and sent ahead, and what you leave behind is the wealth of your heir.
Hadith 3588
Sayyida Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates that they slaughtered a goat (and distributed its meat), then I informed the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) saying: O Messenger of Allah! Only a shoulder of this goat’s meat is left. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: In reality, all of it remains except for this shoulder (which is lying in the house).
Hadith 3589
It is narrated from Sayyida Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that she asked the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) about charity and mentioned a small thing, but the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said to her: Give it and do not be stingy, otherwise stinginess will be shown to you.
Hadith 3590
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Sa'id Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him): The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) saw a man turning his mount to one side of the people. Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) said: Whoever has extra riding animal should give it to the one who does not have a riding animal, and whoever has extra provision should give it to the one who does not have provision. Upon hearing this statement of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family), it occurred to us that none of us has any right to anything surplus to his need.
