Hadith 3559
Under this chapter, the following sub-chapters and hadiths have been mentioned.
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) made the charity of Fitr in Ramadan obligatory upon every Muslim, whether free or slave, male or female, in the form of one sa’ of dates or barley.
Hadith 3560
(Second chain) The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, made obligatory upon every small and great, free and slave, one sa’ of dates or barley as zakat al-fitr.
Hadith 3561
Abu Ammar says: I asked Sayyiduna Qais bin Sa’d (may Allah be pleased with him) about Sadaqat al-Fitr. He said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) commanded us to give Sadaqat al-Fitr before the obligation of Zakat was revealed. However, when Zakat (its obligation) was revealed, after that we were neither forbidden from this charity nor were we commanded anew regarding it, but we have continued to give it. Then I asked him about fasting on the day of ‘Ashura. He said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) commanded us to fast on this day before the fasting of the month of Ramadan was made obligatory. After that, when the fasting of the month of Ramadan was made obligatory, we were neither commanded anew regarding this fast nor were we forbidden from it, but we do fast on this day.
