Hadith 3545
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Husayn bin Ali (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: The beggar has a right, even if he comes riding on a horse.
Hadith 3546
Sayyida Umm Bujayd (may Allah be pleased with her) says: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) used to come to us in the tribe of Banu Amr bin Awf, and I used to prepare sattu (barley porridge) for him in a wooden bowl. When he would come, I would serve it to him. (One day) I said: O Messenger of Allah! Sometimes a beggar comes to me and I do not give him anything because I consider what I have to be very insignificant. In another narration: I do not have anything to give him. (In such a situation, what should I do)? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: You should put something in the hand of the needy person, even if it is a burnt hoof.
Hadith 3547
(Second chain) Sayyida Umm Bujayd (may Allah be pleased with her), who had pledged allegiance to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), said to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him): By Allah! A poor person comes and stands at my door, but I have nothing to give him. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: If you have nothing to give him except a burnt hoof, then place that in his hand.
Hadith 3548
Sayyiduna Amr bin Mu’adh Ansari (may Allah be pleased with him) says: A beggar came and stood at their door. His grandmother, Sayyida Hawwa (may Allah be pleased with her), said to him: “Give him some dates.” The family members said: “We do not have any dates.” She then said: “Then give him some roasted barley flour to drink.” The family members said: “It is strange of you; how can we give what we do not have?” She said: “I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: Do not send a beggar away (empty-handed), even if what you give him is a burnt hoof.”
Hadith 3549
It is narrated from Sayyida Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that a beggar came and asked her (for something). She told her servant: Give him something. So the servant brought something to give him. In another narration, it is mentioned: Sayyida (may Allah be pleased with her) instructed Sayyida Barirah (may Allah be pleased with her) that she should first bring the thing to her so that she could see its quantity. (Upon hearing this) the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to Sayyida Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her): Aisha! Do not give by counting and measuring, otherwise Allah the Exalted will also give you by counting and measuring.
Hadith 3550
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Sa'id Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) that some Ansar people came to the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and they asked him, and he (peace and blessings be upon him) gave them. Whoever among them kept asking him (peace and blessings be upon him), he (peace and blessings be upon him) kept giving him, until whatever he (peace and blessings be upon him) had was finished. When whatever he (peace and blessings be upon him) had was finished, he said: "Whatever wealth we have, we will not withhold it from you, but the reality is that whoever refrains from asking, Allah Almighty will keep him from asking; whoever expresses independence from people, Allah Almighty will make him independent; and whoever adopts patience, Allah Almighty will grant him the ability to be patient. And you will not be given any blessing (from Allah Almighty) that is more expansive than patience."
