13 hadith
Hadith 3502
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Whoever begs despite being free of need will come on the Day of Resurrection with scratches on his face. The companions asked: O Messenger of Allah! What is the limit of sufficiency? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Fifty dirhams or its equivalent in gold.
Hadith 3503
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him), the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) said: Charity is not lawful for the wealthy and the healthy and strong.
Hadith 3504
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Amr bin al-As (may Allah be pleased with him) also narrated a similar hadith from the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him).
Hadith 3505
A man from Banu Asad narrates that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: Whoever owns one uqiyah or something equivalent to it and still begs, then (it will mean that) he has begged insistently and clung to begging (which is not his right).
Hadith 3506
Sayyiduna Abu Sa’id Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) says: My mother sent me to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) so that I might ask him for something. When I reached the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and sat there, he turned towards me and said: Whoever wishes to be self-sufficient, Allah will make him self-sufficient; whoever seeks chastity (abstains from asking people), Allah will make him chaste; whoever seeks sufficiency from Allah, Allah will suffice him. And if someone who owns the value of one uqiyah asks (begs), he will be insistent in asking (which is not his right). Upon hearing this, Abu Sa’id (may Allah be pleased with him) said: I thought that my Yaquatah she-camel is better than one uqiyah, so I returned and did not ask.
Hadith 3507
Ubaidullah bin Adi says: Two companions informed me that they went to the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) during the Farewell Pilgrimage and asked for charity. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) raised his gaze towards them and then lowered it. He saw that both of them were strong and able-bodied men, so he (peace and blessings be upon him) said to them: If you wish, I will give you something from charity, but in reality, there is no share in charity for a wealthy person or a strong man who is able to earn.
Hadith 3508
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Whoever asks from people despite being self-sufficient, he is only increasing for himself the hot stones of Hell. The companions asked: What is the measure of sufficiency? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: The evening meal.

Sayyiduna Hubshi bin Junadah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Whoever asks (begs) without necessity, it is as if he is eating burning coals of fire.
Hadith 3510
The Ansari companion Sayyiduna Sahl bin Hanzaliyah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that both ‘Uyainah and Aqra’ asked the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) for something. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) ordered Sayyiduna Muawiyah (may Allah be pleased with him) to write (to the governor of their region) in their favor. Sayyiduna Muawiyah (may Allah be pleased with him) wrote the letter, and the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) sealed it. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) then ordered Sayyiduna Muawiyah (may Allah be pleased with him) to hand over this letter to them. ‘Uyainah asked, “What is written in it?” The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) replied, “It contains exactly what I have ordered.” He kissed the letter and tied it in his turban; he was among the wise and intelligent men. Aqra’ said, “I am carrying a letter, but I do not know what is written in it; this is like the matter of Mutalammis’s scroll.” Sayyiduna Muawiyah (may Allah be pleased with him) informed the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) of what both of them had said. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) went out for some work. Early in the day, he passed by a camel that had been made to sit at the door of the mosque. When he passed by that place at the end of the day, the camel was still sitting there in the same way. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked, “Where is the owner of this camel?” He was searched for, but not found. Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, “Fear Allah regarding these animals. When you ride them, they should be healthy, and when you dismount, they should be well-fed.” The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said these words in a state of anger. Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, “Whoever asks (begs) despite being self-sufficient, he is increasing the fire of Hell for himself.” The companions asked, “How much (wealth) will suffice him?” The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) replied, “That which is enough for his morning and evening meals.”
Hadith 3511

Sayyiduna Imran bin Husain (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: The asking of the wealthy will be a blemish on his face on the Day of Resurrection.
Hadith 3513
It is narrated from Sayyiduna ‘A’id bin ‘Amr Muzani (may Allah be pleased with him), he says: Once we were sitting with the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) when a Bedouin came and, insisting and persistently, began to ask the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), saying: O Messenger of Allah! Feed me, O Messenger of Allah! Give me something. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) stood up and went into the house, then he (peace and blessings be upon him) held the two sides of the doorframe and, turning towards us, said: By Him in whose hand is the life of Muhammad! If you knew what I know about the consequences of asking and begging, then whoever has food for one evening would not ask anything from anyone. After that, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) ordered food to be given to him.
Hadith 3514
Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah, may Allah be pleased with him, narrates that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: Whoever asks people (begs) to increase his wealth, in fact he is collecting embers of fire; now it is up to him whether he collects a little or a lot.
