Hadith 3460
Ibn Sa’idi Maliki says: Sayyiduna Umar bin Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) appointed me as the collector of charity. When I finished this task and handed over the entire account to him, he ordered that I be given wages for this service. But I said: I did this work for Allah Almighty and my reward is with Allah Almighty. However, he said: Take what is being given to you, because I also did a similar task during the time of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), and when he gave me wages for this work and I said the same thing as you, he said to me: Whatever comes to you without you asking for it, take it, and eat from it yourself and also give charity from it.
Hadith 3461
Sayyiduna Mustawrid bin Shaddad (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Whoever is appointed over any of our affairs, if he does not have a house, let him acquire a house (from the public treasury); if he does not have a wife, let him marry; if he does not have a servant, let him acquire a servant; and if he does not have a mount, let him acquire a mount. Whoever takes anything beyond this is a betrayer.

Sayyiduna Abu Musa Ash'ari (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: The trustworthy treasurer who is ordered to give something, and he gives it fully to the person he was instructed to, with his own heart's pleasure, then he will be counted as one of the two who give charity.
