7 hadith
Hadith 3429
Under this chapter, the following sub-chapters and hadiths have been mentioned.
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Uqbah bin Harith (may Allah be pleased with him), he says: I performed the Asr prayer with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). After the salam, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) quickly stood up and went to the house of one of his wives, and then returned. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) sensed that the people were surprised at his haste, so he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: During the prayer, I remembered that there is a piece of gold with us. I disliked that evening should come or the night should pass while it remained with us, so I went to order it to be distributed.

Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that Sayyiduna Abbas bin Abdul Muttalib (may Allah be pleased with him) asked the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): "Can zakat be given before it becomes obligatory?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) granted him permission for this.

Hadith 3431
Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) sent Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) to collect Zakat. When he returned, he informed the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) that Sayyiduna Ibn Jameel, Sayyiduna Khalid bin Walid, and the uncle of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), Sayyiduna Abbas, had not paid Zakat. (Upon hearing this) the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Ibn Jameel did not refuse except because he was previously in hardship, then Allah Almighty made him prosperous. As for you, you are being unfair to Khalid bin Walid (may Allah be pleased with him); he has dedicated his armors and (all his war equipment) in the way of Allah Almighty. And as for the matter of Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him), the Zakat for his share, rather double of it, is upon me. Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Do you not know that a man’s uncle is like his father?

Hadith 3432
It is narrated by Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) that Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said to the people: What is your opinion regarding the (charity) wealth that has remained with us? The people said: O Commander of the Faithful! We have kept you busy from your family, business, and trade, so you should keep this wealth with yourself. Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) asked me (Ali): What is your opinion? I said: The people have already indicated one thing to you. But he said: You should also say something. I said: Why do you turn your certainty into conjecture? He said: You will have to speak openly. I said: Fine, I will explain clearly. Do you remember that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) sent you to collect zakat, and when you went to Sayyiduna Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him), he refused to give zakat and there was a dispute between you and him? You said to me: Come with me to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). So we went, but when we saw the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) in a distressed state, we returned. When we went to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) the next day, we found him content and cheerful. You told the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) about the matter of Sayyiduna Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him), so the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: An uncle is like a father. Then we mentioned to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) about his distress on the first day and his cheerfulness on the second day, so the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: When you came to me yesterday, I had two dinars of charity left with me, and I was distressed because of them, but this morning I distributed them, so I appeared cheerful and content when you came. Upon hearing this, Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said: By Allah! You have spoken absolutely correctly, I am grateful to you from beginning to end.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah, may Allah be pleased with him, that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: By Him in Whose hand is the life of Muhammad! If I had gold equal to the mountain of Uhud and there were deserving people to accept it from me, I would wish to spend all of it before three nights pass, and not a single dinar would remain with me from it, except that which I keep aside to pay off a debt.

Narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abi Awfa (may Allah be pleased with him), who was among the Companions who pledged allegiance under the tree (i.e., those who took the pledge of Ridwan), he says: Whenever a person would bring charity to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), he (peace and blessings be upon him) would pray for him in this way: "Allahumma salli 'alayhim." (O Allah! Have mercy on them.) My father also brought charity to him, so the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) prayed for him in this way: "Allahumma salli 'ala Aal Abi Awfa." (O Allah! Have mercy on the family of Abu Awfa.)
