Hadith 3190
It is narrated from Sayyidah Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that when Sayyiduna Sa’d bin Abi Waqqas (may Allah be pleased with him) passed away and his bier was being taken (towards the graveyard), Sayyidah Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) ordered that his bier be brought past her. Thus, the bier was placed in the middle of the mosque and she prayed for him. But when people objected to this action, Sayyidah (may Allah be pleased with her) said: How quick people are to find fault! The reality is that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) offered the funeral prayer for the son of Bayda in the mosque itself.
Hadith 3191
(Second Chain) It is narrated from Sayyida Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that she and the other wives of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) sent a message to the heirs of Sayyiduna Sa’d bin Abi Waqqas (may Allah be pleased with him) to bring the deceased to them in the mosque. Thus, the Mothers of the Believers performed his funeral prayer. People objected to this situation. When Sayyida Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) learned of this, she said: Are you not amazed at those who object to this situation? By Allah! The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) performed the funeral prayer of Sayyiduna Sahl bin Bayda in the mosque itself.
Hadith 3192
But this narration is authentic, because Ibn Abi Dhi’b’s hearing from this Salih was before his confusion, as Shaykh al-Albani has clarified. See: (Sahihah: 2351. Narrated by Abu Dawood: 3191, and Ibn Majah: 1517 (see: 9730). It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah, may Allah be pleased with him, that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: Whoever offers the funeral prayer in the mosque, there is no reward for him.
