بَابُ مَشْرُوعِيَّةِ الصَّلَاةِ عَلَى الْأَنْبِيَاءِ وَعَدَمِ مَشْرُوعِيَّتِهَا عَلَى الشُّهَدَاءِ
Chapter on the legitimacy of praying over the Prophets and not over the martyrs
Hadith 3148
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي ثَنَا بَهْزٌ وَأَبُو كَامِلٍ قَالَا ثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ عَنْ أَبِي عِمْرَانَ (يَعْنِي الْجَوْنِيَّ) عَنْ أَبِي عَسِيبٍ أَوْ أَبِي عَسِيمٍ قَالَ بَهْزٌ: إِنَّهُ شَهِدَ الصَّلَاةَ عَلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ، قَالُوا: كَيْفَ نُصَلِّي عَلَيْهِ؟ قَالَ: ادْخُلُوا أَرْسَالًا أَرْسَالًا، قَالَ: فَكَانُوا يَدْخُلُونَ مِنْ هَذَا الْبَابِ فَيُصَلُّونَ عَلَيْهِ ثُمَّ يَخْرُجُونَ مِنَ الْبَابِ الْآخَرِ، الْحَدِيثَ
Sayyiduna Abu Usayb (or Abu Usaym) رضي الله عنه narrates that he was present at the funeral prayer of the Noble Prophet صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم. He says that the Companions discussed among themselves, "How should we perform the funeral prayer for you صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم now?" One of them said: "Enter in groups." So they would enter through one door, perform the funeral prayer for the Prophet صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم, and exit through the other door, … . Al-Hadith.
Hadith 3149
عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُمَا عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنَّهُ قَالَ فِي قَتْلَى أُحُدٍ: ((لَا تُغَسِّلُوهُمْ، فَإِنَّ كُلَّ جُرْحٍ أَوْ كُلَّ دَمٍ يَفُوحُ مِسْكًا يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ وَلَمْ يُصَلِّ عَلَيْهِمْ))
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said regarding the martyrs of Uhud: Do not bathe them, for on the Day of Resurrection, the fragrance of musk will emanate from every wound or blood of theirs. Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) did not perform their funeral prayer either.
Hadith 3150
عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ: فَدَفَنَهُمْ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَلَمْ يُصَلِّ عَلَيْهِمْ
Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) reports that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) buried the martyrs of Uhud without performing the funeral prayer over them.
