Hadith 3114
عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ عُرْوَةَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ عَائِشَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهَا أَنَّهَا قَالَتْ: إِنَّ أَبَا بَكْرٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ لَهَا: يَا بُنَيَّةُ! أَيُّ يَوْمٍ تُوُفِّيَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ؟ قُلْتُ: يَوْمَ الْإِثْنَيْنِ، قَالَ: فِي كَمْ كَفَّنْتُمْ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ؟ قُلْتُ: يَا أَبَتِ! كَفَّنَّاهُ فِي ثَلَاثَةِ أَثْوَابٍ بِيضٍ سُحُولِيَّةٍ جُدَدٍ يَمَانِيَّةٍ لَيْسَ فِيهَا قَمِيصٌ وَلَا عِمَامَةٌ أُدْرِجَ فِيهَا إِدْرَاجًا
Sayyida Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates that Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) asked her: Daughter! On which day did the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) pass away? I said: On Monday. He asked: In how many garments was the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) shrouded? I said: Father! We shrouded him (peace and blessings be upon him) in three white new Yemeni Sahuli garments; there was neither a shirt nor a turban among them, he (peace and blessings be upon him) was wrapped in those sheets.
Hadith 3115
عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُمَا أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ كُفِّنَ فِي ثَلَاثَةِ أَثْوَابٍ: فِي قَمِيصِهِ الَّذِي مَاتَ فِيهِ، وَحُلَّةٍ نَجْرَانِيَّةٍ، الْحُلَّةُ ثَوْبَانِ
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas, may Allah be pleased with him, that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, was shrouded in three garments: one was a shirt in which he, peace and blessings be upon him, passed away, and there was a Najrani suit (set), and a suit consists of two garments.
Hadith 3116
وَعَنْهُ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ أَيْضًا قَالَ: كُفِّنَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي بُرْدَيْنِ أَبْيَضَيْنِ وَبُرْدٍ أَحْمَرَ
It is also narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas, may Allah be pleased with him, that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, was shrouded in two white sheets and one red sheet.
Hadith 3117
عَنِ ابْنَةِ أُهْبَانَ أَنَّ أَبَاهَا أَمَرَ أَهْلَهُ حِينَ ثَقُلَ أَنْ يَكَفِّنُوهُ وَلَا يُلْبِسُوهُ قَمِيصًا، قَالَتْ: فَأَلْبَسْنَاهُ قَمِيصًا، فَأَصْبَحْنَا وَالْقَمِيصُ عَلَى الْمِشْجَبِ
It is narrated from the daughter of Ahban that when her father was afflicted with the illness of death, he advised his family that they should shroud him but not dress him in a shirt. She says: However, we dressed him in a shirt, but when morning came, (we saw that) the shirt was hanging on a peg.
Hadith 3118
عَنْ لَيْلَى ابْنَةِ قَانِفٍ الثَّقَفِيَّةِ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهَا قَالَتْ: كُنْتُ فِيمَنْ غَسَّلَ أُمَّ كُلْثُومٍ بِنْتَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهَا عِنْدَ وَفَاتِهَا وَكَانَ أَوَّلَ مَا أَعْطَانَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ الْحِقَاوَيْنِ، ثُمَّ الدِّرْعُ، ثُمَّ الْخِمَارُ، ثُمَّ الْمِلْحَفَةُ، ثُمَّ أُدْرِجَتْ بَعْدُ فِي الثَّوْبِ الْآخِرِ، قَالَتْ: وَرَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَعَلَى آلِهِ وَصَحْبِهِ وَسَلَّمَ عِنْدَ الْبَابِ مَعَهُ كَفَنُهَا يُنَاوِلُنَا ثَوْبًا ثَوْبًا
Sayyida Layla bint Qanif Thaqafiyyah (may Allah be pleased with her) says: I was among those women who gave the ritual bath (ghusl) to Sayyida Umm Kulthum bint Rasul (may Allah be pleased with her) at the time of her death. For her shroud, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) first gave us his waist-wrapper sheet, then in order, a shirt, a scarf, and a large sheet. Then she was wrapped in another cloth. Sayyida Layla (may Allah be pleased with her) says: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) was sitting by the door; he had her shroud with him and was handing us the garments one by one.
Hadith 3119
عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَلِيِّ بْنِ الْحَنَفِيَّةِ عَنْ أَبِيهِ (عَلِيٍّ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ) قَالَ: كُفِّنَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي سَبْعَةِ أَثْوَابٍ
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was shrouded in seven garments.
