Hadith 3096
It is narrated from Sayyidah Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Whoever bathes the deceased, observes trustworthiness in the fulfillment of all related matters, and does not disclose (the private and disliked things) of the deceased, then he becomes as pure from his sins as the day his mother gave birth to him. Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: The close relative of the deceased should be responsible for his affairs, provided he has knowledge (of these matters); otherwise, entrust this responsibility to the one whom you consider to be pious and trustworthy.
Hadith 3097
The companion of the Messenger, Sayyiduna Muawiyah bin Khudayj (may Allah be pleased with him) says: Whoever bathes and shrouds a deceased person, then accompanies him and arranges for his burial, will return forgiven. Imam Ahmad (may Allah have mercy on him) said: This is not Marfu‘.
Hadith 3098
Sayyiduna Ubayy bin Ka'b (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The angels took the soul of Adam (peace be upon him), then they bathed him, shrouded him, and applied fragrance. After that, they dug his grave and prepared the lahd (side chamber). Then they offered his funeral prayer, entered his grave, and lowered him into it. Then they placed bricks over him, came out of the grave, and poured soil over it, and said: O children of Adam! This is the method for burying your dead.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah, may Allah be pleased with him, that the Noble Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: Whoever conceals (the faults of) another person in this world, Allah Almighty will conceal him on the Day of Resurrection.
