Hadith 3030
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي ثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِدْرِيسَ (يَعْنِي الشَّافِعِيَّ) عَنْ مَالِكٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ كَعْبِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ أَنَّهُ أَخْبَرَهُ أَنَّ أَبَاهُ كَعْبَ بْنَ مَالِكٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ كَانَ يُحَدِّثُ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: ((إِنَّمَا نَسَمَةُ الْمُؤْمِنِ طَائِرٌ يَعْلُقُ فِي شَجَرِ الْجَنَّةِ حَتَّى يَرْجِعَهُ اللَّهُ تَبَارَكَ وَتَعَالَى إِلَى جَسَدِهِ يَوْمَ يَبْعَثُهُ))
Sayyiduna Ka'b bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: The soul of the believer is like a bird, which eats from the trees of Paradise, until the day Allah, the Exalted, will resurrect him, and then He will return his soul to his body.
Hadith 3031
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي ثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِدْرِيسَ (يَعْنِي الشَّافِعِيَّ) عَنْ مَالِكٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ كَعْبِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ أَنَّهُ أَخْبَرَهُ أَنَّ أَبَاهُ كَعْبَ بْنَ مَالِكٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ كَانَ يُحَدِّثُ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: ((إِنَّمَا نَسَمَةُ الْمُؤْمِنِ طَائِرٌ يَعْلُقُ فِي شَجَرِ الْجَنَّةِ حَتَّى يَرْجِعَهُ اللَّهُ تَبَارَكَ وَتَعَالَى إِلَى جَسَدِهِ يَوْمَ يَبْعَثُهُ))
Lady Umm Mubashir (may Allah be pleased with her) said to Sayyiduna Ka'b bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him), while he was suffering from the illness of death: Convey my greetings to my son Mubashir. Sayyiduna Ka'b (may Allah be pleased with him) said: Umm Mubashir! May Allah forgive you, did you not hear that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: The soul of a Muslim is like a bird, eating from the trees of Paradise, until Allah, the Exalted, returns it to its body on the Day of Resurrection. She said: You have spoken the truth, so I seek forgiveness from Allah, the Exalted.
Hadith 3032
عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَمْرِو بْنِ الْعَاصِ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُمَا عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: ((إِنَّ أَرْوَاحَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ تَلْتَقِي عَلَى مَسِيرَةِ يَوْمٍ مَا رَأَى أَحَدُهُمْ صَاحِبَهُ قَطُّ))
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Amr bin Aas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: The souls of the believers meet each other at a distance of one day, even if in the world they have never seen each other.
Hadith 3033
(وَعَنْهُ مِنْ طَرِيقٍ ثَانٍ) ((إِنَّ أَرْوَاحَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ لَتَلْقَيانِ عَلَى مَسِيرَةِ يَوْمٍ وَلَيْلَةٍ وَمَا رَأَى وَاحِدٌ مِنْهُمَا صَاحِبَهُ))
(Second chain) The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: The souls of the believers meet each other at a distance of one day and night, even though they have not seen each other.
Hadith 3034
عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ الْمُنْكَدِرِ قَالَ: دَخَلْتُ عَلَى جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُمَا وَهُوَ يَمُوتُ فَقُلْتُ: أَقْرِئْ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ مِنِّيَ السَّلَامَ
Muhammad bin Munkadir says: I went to Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) when the time of his death was near. I said to him: Convey my greetings of peace to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him).
Hadith 3035
عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ: قَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ: ((إِنَّ أَعْمَالَكُمْ تُعْرَضُ عَلَى أَقَارِبِكُمْ وَعَشَائِرِكُمْ مِنَ الْأَمْوَاتِ، فَإِنْ كَانَ خَيْرًا اسْتَبْشَرُوا بِهِ وَإِنْ كَانَ غَيْرَ ذَلِكَ قَالُوا: اللَّهُمَّ لَا تُمِتْهُمْ حَتَّى تَهْدِيَهُمْ كَمَا هَدَيْتَنَا))
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik, may Allah be pleased with him, that the Noble Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: Your deeds are presented before your deceased relatives; if the deeds are good, they become happy, and if they are not good, they say: O Allah! Do not give death to these people until You guide them as You guided us.
Hadith 3036
عَنْ أُمِّ هَانِئٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهَا أَنَّهَا سَأَلَتْ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ: أَنَتَزَاوَرُ إِذَا مُتْنَا وَيَرَى بَعْضُنَا بَعْضًا؟ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ: ((تَكُونُ النَّسَمُ طَيْرًا تَعْلُقُ بِالشَّجَرِ حَتَّى إِذَا كَانَ يَوْمُ الْقِيَامَةِ دَخَلَتْ كُلُّ نَفْسٍ فِي جَسَدِهَا))
It is narrated from Sayyida Umm Hani (may Allah be pleased with her), she says: I asked the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), "When we die, will we meet each other and see each other?" The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: All souls are given the form of birds, then they eat from the trees. When the Day of Resurrection comes, every soul will enter its body.
Hadith 3037
عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ: ((إِنَّ الْمَيِّتَ يَعْرِفُ مَنْ يَحْمِلُهُ وَمَنْ يُغَسِّلُهُ وَمَنْ يُدْلِي بِهِ فِي قَبْرِهِ))
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Sa'id Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: The people who lift the deceased, give him a bath, and lower him into the grave—the deceased recognizes all of them.
