بَابُ الِاسْتِسْقَاءِ بِالصَّالِحِينَ وَمَنْ تُرْجَى بَرَكَتُهُمْ
Chapter on seeking rain through the righteous and those whose blessing is hoped for
Hadith 2942
عَنْ سَالِمٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ: رُبَّمَا ذَكَرْتُ قَوْلَ الشَّاعِرِ وَأَنَا أَنْظُرُ إِلَى وَجْهِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَلَى الْمِنْبَرِ يَسْتَسْقِي فَمَا يَنْزِلُ حَتَّى يَجِيشَ كُلُّ مِيزَابٍ، وَأَذْكُرُ قَوْلَ الشَّاعِرِ: وَأَبْيَضُ يُسْتَسْقَى الْغَمَامُ بِوَجْهِهِ ثِمَالُ الْيَتَامَى عِصْمَةٌ لِلْأَرَامِلِ وَهُوَ قَوْلُ أَبِي طَالِبٍ
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) says: Sometimes I remember the saying of the poet while I am looking at the face of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and he is supplicating for rain on the pulpit, and he does not descend from it before every gutter overflows with abundant water. I remember the saying of the poet: "That fair-skinned one, by whose face rain is sought from the clouds; he is the refuge and shelter of orphans, and a shield for widows." This is the saying of Abu Talib.
