It is narrated from Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik, may Allah be pleased with him, that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, supplicated for rain and he pointed towards the sky with the backs of his palms.

It is also narrated from Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him), he says: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) would not raise his hands in any supplication, except in the supplication for rain; in that, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would raise his hands so high that the whiteness of his armpits would be visible.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Umair (may Allah be pleased with him), the freed slave of Abi al-Lahm, that he said: He saw the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) praying for rain near the place of Zawra, by Ahjaz al-Zayt. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was standing and supplicating, with his palms raised, but they were not raised above his head. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) had the inner sides of his palms facing his face.
