Hadith 2874
Sayyidah Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) says: The Abyssinians used to play (perform) in the presence of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) in the mosque on the day of Eid. One day, I also began to watch over the shoulder of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) lowered his shoulders for me, so I kept watching over his shoulder until I was satisfied and then I left.
Hadith 2875
Sayyida Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) says: Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) came to me while two girls were beating the duff. These were the days of Mina. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) had a cloth wrapped around him. Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) scolded them. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) removed the cloth from his face and said: "Abu Bakr! Leave them, these are the days of Eid." Then Sayyida Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) said: I saw the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) that he would shield me with his cloak and I would keep watching the Abyssinians playing in the mosque, until I myself would get tired and sit down. You people should realize the status and position of a young and eager girl.
Hadith 2876
Sayyidah Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) says: Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) came to me while the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) was also with me, and two girls were beating the duff. It was the day of Eid al-Fitr or Eid al-Adha. So he scolded them, but the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: O Abu Bakr! Leave us, indeed every nation has an Eid, and today is our Eid.
Hadith 2877
(Second chain of narration) She says: Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) came to us on the day of Eid, while two girls were with us mentioning the Day of Bu'ath, on which the chiefs of Aws and Khazraj were killed. So Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) said: O servants of Allah! Is this the flute of Satan? O servants of Allah! Is this the flute of Satan? O servants of Allah! Is (this) the flute of Satan here? He said this three times, but the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: O Abu Bakr! Indeed, every nation has a festival, and today is our festival.
Hadith 2878
Abu Husain says: The people of Madinah had a day on which they used to play. I went to Sayyida Rabi’ bint Mu’awwidh (may Allah be pleased with her), and she said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) entered upon me and sat on my bed, while I had two young girls with me who were beating the duff and describing the qualities of our fathers who were martyred at Badr. Then they began to say: “And among us is a Prophet who knows what will happen tomorrow.” But the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “Do not say this.”
Hadith 2879
Sayyiduna Qais bin Sa'd bin 'Ubadah (may Allah be pleased with him) says: I have seen everything that existed during the time of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), except for one thing, and that is that on the day of Eid al-Fitr, singing was performed with a duff in front of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). Jabir says: By this is meant playing.
