Hadith 2857
عَنْ سَمُرَةَ بْنِ جُنْدُبٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ يَقْرَأُ فِي الْعِيدَيْنِ بِـ {سَبِّحِ اسْمَ رَبِّكَ الْأَعْلَى} وَ{هَلْ أَتَاكَ حَدِيثُ الْغَاشِيَةِ}
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Samurah bin Jundub (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) used to recite Surah Al-A'la and Surah Al-Ghashiyah in the Eid prayers.
Hadith 2858
عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ أَنَّ عُمَرَ بْنَ الْخَطَّابِ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ سَأَلَ أَبَا وَاقِدٍ اللَّيْثِيَّ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ بِمَا كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقْرَأُ فِي الْعِيدِ؟ (وَفِي رِوَايَةٍ فِي الْعِيدَيْنِ) قَالَ: كَانَ يَقْرَأُ بِـ {قٓ} وَ{اِقْتَرَبَتْ}
It is narrated from Ubaydullah bin Abdullah that Sayyiduna Umar bin Khattab, may Allah be pleased with him, asked Sayyiduna Abu Waqid Al-Laithi, may Allah be pleased with him: "Which recitation did the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, perform in the Eid prayer?" He replied: "He, peace and blessings be upon him, used to recite Surah Qaf and Surah Al-Qamar."
Hadith 2859
عَنِ النُّعْمَانِ بْنِ بَشِيرٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَرَأَ فِي الْعِيدَيْنِ بِـ {سَبِّحِ اسْمَ رَبِّكَ الْأَعْلَى} وَ{هَلْ أَتَاكَ حَدِيثُ الْغَاشِيَةِ}، وَإِنْ وَافَقَ يَوْمَ الْجُمُعَةِ قَرَأَ بِهِمَا جَمِيعًا (وَفِي رِوَايَةٍ) فَرُبَّمَا اجْتَمَعَ الْعِيدُ وَالْجُمُعَةُ فَقَرَأَ بِهَاتَيْنِ السُّورَتَيْنِ
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Nu’man bin Bashir (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) recited Surah Al-A’la and Surah Al-Ghashiyah in the prayers of both Eids, and if that day happened to be a Friday, he would recite the same in both prayers. In another narration, it is stated: If Eid and Friday coincided, he would still recite these same Surahs.
Hadith 2860
عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ: صَلَّى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ الْعِيدَ رَكْعَتَيْنِ لَا يَقْرَأُ فِيهِمَا إِلَّا بِأُمِّ الْكِتَابِ لَمْ يَزِدْ عَلَيْهَا شَيْئًا
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) led the two rak‘ahs of the Eid prayer, and in both rak‘ahs he did not recite anything except Surah Al-Fatihah, that is, he did not recite any (verse or surah) in addition to Surah Al-Fatihah.
