بَابُ مَا يُقْرَأُ بِهِ فِي صَلَاةِ الْجُمُعَةِ
Chapter on what is recited in Friday prayer
Hadith 2815
عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ يَقْرَأُ فِي صَلَاةِ الصُّبْحِ يَوْمَ الْجُمُعَةِ {الٓم تَنْزِيلُ} وَ{هَلْ أَتَى}، وَفِي الْجُمُعَةِ سُورَةَ الْجُمُعَةِ وَ{إِذَا جَاءَكَ الْمُنَافِقُونَ}
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) says: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) used to recite Surah As-Sajdah and Surah Ad-Dahr in the Fajr prayer on Friday, and Surah Al-Jumu'ah and Surah Al-Munafiqun in the Jumu'ah prayer.
Hadith 2816
عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ أَنَّ الضَّحَّاكَ بْنَ قَيْسٍ سَأَلَ النُّعْمَانَ بْنَ بَشِيرٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ بِمَا كَانَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقْرَأُ فِي الْجُمُعَةِ مَعَ سُورَةِ الْجُمُعَةِ؟ قَالَ: {هَلْ أَتَاكَ حَدِيثُ الْغَاشِيَةِ}
Dahhak bin Qais asked Sayyiduna Nu'man bin Bashir (may Allah be pleased with him): Which surah did the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) recite along with Surah Al-Jumu'ah in the Friday prayer? He said: Surah Al-Ghashiyah.
Hadith 2817
عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ أَبِي رَافِعٍ وَكَانَ كَاتِبًا لِعَلِيٍّ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ: كَانَ مَرْوَانُ يَسْتَخْلِفُ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ عَلَى الْمَدِينَةِ فَاسْتَخْلَفَهُ مَرَّةً فَصَلَّى الْجُمُعَةَ فَقَرَأَ سُورَةَ الْجُمُعَةِ وَ{إِذَا جَاءَكَ الْمُنَافِقُونَ}، فَلَمَّا انْصَرَفَ مَشَيْتُ إِلَى جَنْبِهِ فَقُلْتُ: يَا أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ! قَرَأْتَ بِسُورَتَيْنِ قَرَأَ بِهِمَا عَلِيٌّ عَلَيْهِ السَّلَامُ قَالَ قَرَأَ بِهِمَا حِبِّي أَبُو الْقَاسِمِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ
Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him)'s scribe, Ubaydullah bin Abi Rafi', says: Marwan used to appoint Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) as the deputy of Madinah Munawwarah. Once, he appointed him as his deputy in this way, so he led the Friday prayer and recited Surah al-Jumu'ah and Surah al-Munafiqun in it. When he finished, I went to his side and said to him: O Abu Hurairah! The two surahs you recited, Sayyiduna Ali (peace be upon him) also used to recite them. Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) replied: My beloved Abu al-Qasim (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) also recited these surahs.
Hadith 2818
عَنِ النُّعْمَانِ بْنِ بَشِيرٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَرَأَ فِي الْعِيدَيْنِ بِـ {سَبِّحِ اسْمَ رَبِّكَ الْأَعْلَى} وَ{هَلْ أَتَاكَ حَدِيثُ الْغَاشِيَةِ}، وَإِنْ وَافَقَ يَوْمَ الْجُمُعَةِ قَرَأَهُمَا جَمِيعًا
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Nu’man bin Bashir (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) recited Surah Al-A’la and Surah Al-Ghashiyah in the prayers of both Eids, and if that day happened to be a Friday, he would recite them in both prayers.
Hadith 2819
(وَعَنْهُ مِنْ طَرِيقٍ ثَانٍ) عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنَّهُ كَانَ يَقْرَأُ فِي صَلَاةِ الْجُمُعَةِ بِـ {سَبِّحِ اسْمَ رَبِّكَ} وَ{هَلْ أَتَاكَ حَدِيثُ الْغَاشِيَةِ}، فَرُبَّمَا اجْتَمَعَ الْعِيدُ وَالْجُمُعَةُ فَقَرَأَ بِهَاتَيْنِ السُّورَتَيْنِ
(Second chain of narration) The Noble Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, would recite Surah Al-A'la and Surah Al-Ghashiyah in the Friday prayer. When Eid and Friday would coincide on the same day, he would recite these same Surahs in both prayers.
Hadith 2820
عَنْ سَمُرَةَ بْنِ جُنْدُبٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ يَقْرَأُ فِي الْجُمُعَةِ بِـ {سَبِّحِ اسْمَ رَبِّكَ الْأَعْلَى} وَ{هَلْ أَتَاكَ حَدِيثُ الْغَاشِيَةِ}
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Samurah bin Jundub (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to recite Surah Al-A'la and Surah Al-Ghashiyah in the Friday prayer.
