Sayyiduna Umar bin Khattab, may Allah be pleased with him, says: On the blessed tongue of Muhammad, the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him and his family, two rak'ahs of travel prayer, two rak'ahs of Eid al-Adha prayer, two rak'ahs of Eid al-Fitr prayer, and two rak'ahs of Friday prayer are complete prayers; there is no deficiency in them.

Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah, may Allah be pleased with him, narrates that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: Whoever catches one rak‘ah of the prayer, indeed he has caught the whole prayer.

Sayyar bin Ma’rur says: Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said in a sermon: Indeed, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) built this mosque, and only we, the Muhajirun and Ansar, were with him (peace and blessings be upon him). Then, when the crowd increases, a man should prostrate on his brother’s back. Then, seeing some people praying on the road, he said: Pray in the mosque.
