Hadith 2711
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: We are the last (to come in the world), but on the Day of Resurrection, we will be the first (in reckoning). Yes, it is true that they were given the Book before us and we were given it after them. Then, as for this day, Allah Almighty had also made it obligatory upon them, but they fell into disagreement, and Allah Almighty guided us to it, so people follow us in this matter, in such a way that the Jews got the next day (Saturday) and the Christians got the day after that (Sunday). One narrator said "bayda anna" and another said "bi'aydin".
Hadith 2712
(Second chain) The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: They differed regarding it, so Allah made this (Friday) a festival for us. Thus, today (Friday) is ours, tomorrow (Saturday) is for the Jews, and the day after tomorrow (Sunday) is for the Christians.
Hadith 2713
(Third Chain) The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: Allah Almighty had also made Friday obligatory upon the people before us, but they fell into disagreement about it, and Allah Almighty guided us in this matter, so people follow us. Yesterday (the day of the week) is for the Jews, and the day after tomorrow (Sunday) is for the Christians.
Hadith 2714
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar and Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with them) bore witness that they heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) saying on the wooden pulpit: "Most certainly, either the people will desist from abandoning Jumu'ah, or else Allah Almighty will seal their hearts and they will be written among the heedless."
Hadith 2715
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah, may Allah be pleased with him, that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: I intended to order for the prayer to be established, then it should be commenced, and I would go out with some young men who would have bundles of wood with them. Then I would burn down the houses of those people who hear the call to prayer but do not come to perform the prayer. Yazid, the narrator, was asked whether this warning was regarding the Friday prayer or other prayers. He said: I did not hear Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah, may Allah be pleased with him, mentioning Friday or any other specific prayer.
Hadith 2716
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas’ud (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said regarding those who stay behind from the Friday prayer: I intended to order a man to lead the prayer, and I myself would go with some men to burn the houses of those who stay behind from the Friday prayer.
Hadith 2717
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) said: Whoever misses three Fridays without a valid excuse, Allah Almighty will set a seal upon his heart.
Hadith 2718
Abu’l-Ja’d Dhamri, may Allah be pleased with him, who was a Companion, narrates that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: Whoever, without excuse and out of laziness, misses three Fridays, Allah Almighty will set a seal upon his heart.
Hadith 2719
Sayyiduna Abu Qatadah (may Allah be pleased with him) also narrates a similar hadith from the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him).
Hadith 2720
Sayyiduna Samurah bin Jundub (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Attend the Friday (prayer) and sit close to the Imam, for indeed a person begins to stay behind from Friday until he is left behind from Paradise, even though he is among the people of Paradise.
Hadith 2721
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Samurah bin Jundub (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever leaves Jumu'ah without an excuse should give one dinar in charity, and if he does not have that much, then he should give half a dinar."
Sayyiduna Harithah bin Nu'man (may Allah be pleased with him) reports that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: One of you keeps grazing animals and (in the beginning) attends the congregational prayer, then when his animals begin to complain of a shortage of grazing, he says: If I could find a place with more grass for my animals, so he moves (far away) and attends only the Jumu'ah prayer. Then his animals begin to present the excuse of a shortage of grazing, so he says: If I could find a place with even more grass for my animals, then he changes his place and (goes so far that) he attends neither Jumu'ah nor the congregation, and because of this, a seal is set upon his heart.
