بَابُ مَا جَاءَ فِي صَلَاةِ الرَّجُلِ خَلْفَ الصَّفِّ وَحْدَهُ
Chapter on what is reported regarding a man praying alone behind the row
Hadith 2669
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي ثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ثَنَا شُعْبَةُ عَنْ حُصَيْنٍ عَنْ هِلَالِ بْنِ يَسَافٍ قَالَ: أَرَانِي زِيَادُ بْنُ أَبِي الْجَعْدِ شَيْخًا بِالْجَزِيرَةِ يُقَالُ لَهُ وَابِصَةُ بْنُ مَعْبَدٍ، قَالَ: فَأَقَامَنِي عَلَيْهِ وَقَالَ هَٰذَا حَدَّثَنِي أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ رَأَى رَجُلًا صَلَّى فِي الصَّفِّ وَحْدَهُ فَأَمَرَهُ فَأَعَادَ الصَّلَاةَ، قَالَ: وَكَانَ أَبِي يَقُولُ بِهَٰذَا الْحَدِيثِ
Hilal bin Yasaf says: In an island, Ziyad bin Abi Al-Ja’d showed me an old man, he was called Wabisah bin Ma’bad. He made me stand by this elder and said: This person has narrated to me this hadith that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) saw a man praying alone in the row and ordered him to repeat the prayer, so he prayed again. Abdullah says: My father (Imam Ahmad bin Hanbal) also held the same opinion as mentioned in this hadith.
Hadith 2670
عَنْ وَابِصَةَ بْنِ مَعْبَدٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ: سُئِلَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَنْ رَجُلٍ صَلَّى خَلْفَ الصُّفُوفِ وَحْدَهُ، فَقَالَ: ((يُعِيدُ الصَّلَاةَ))
Sayyiduna Wabisah bin Ma’bad (may Allah be pleased with him) reports that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) was asked about the person who performs prayer alone behind the rows. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: He will repeat the prayer.
Hadith 2671
عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ شَيْبَانَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ رَأَى رَجُلًا يُصَلِّي خَلْفَ الصَّفِّ فَوَقَفَ حَتَّى انْصَرَفَ الرَّجُلُ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ: ((اسْتَقْبِلْ صَلَاتَكَ، فَلَا صَلَاةَ لِرَجُلٍ فَرْدٍ خَلْفَ الصَّفِّ))
Sayyiduna Ali bin Shiban (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) saw a man praying alone behind the row. So the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) waited until that person finished his prayer. Then the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Repeat your prayer, for there is no prayer for the one who prays alone behind the row."
