بَابُ الْحَثِّ عَلَى تَسْوِيَةِ الصُّفُوفِ وَرَصِّهَا وَبَيَانِ خَيْرِهَا مِنْ شَرِّهَا
Chapter on urging the straightening and closing of the rows and clarifying the best and worst of them
Hadith 2636
عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: ((أَلَا أَدُلُّكُمْ عَلَى مَا يُكَفِّرُ اللَّهُ بِهِ الْخَطَايَا وَيَزِيدُ بِهِ فِي الْحَسَنَاتِ؟)) قَالُوا: بَلَى يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ! قَالَ: ((إِسْبَاغُ الْوُضُوءِ عَلَى الْمَكَارِهِ وَكَثْرَةُ الْخُطَى إِلَى هَٰذِهِ الْمَسَاجِدِ وَانْتِظَارُ الصَّلَاةِ بَعْدَ الصَّلَاةِ، مَا مِنْكُمْ مِنْ رَجُلٍ يَخْرُجُ مِنْ بَيْتِهِ مُتَطَهِّرًا فَيُصَلِّي مَعَ الْمُسْلِمِينَ الصَّلَاةَ ثُمَّ يَجْلِسُ فِي الْمَجْلِسِ يَنْتَظِرُ الصَّلَاةَ الْأُخْرَى إِلَّا الْمَلَائِكَةُ تَقُولُ: اللَّهُمَّ اغْفِرْ لَهُ، اللَّهُمَّ ارْحَمْهُ، فَإِذَا قُمْتُمْ إِلَى الصَّلَاةِ فَاعْدِلُوا صُفُوفَكُمْ وَأَقِيمُوهَا وَسُدُّوا الْفُرَجَ فَإِنِّي أَرَاكُمْ مِنْ وَرَاءِ ظَهْرِي، فَإِذَا قَالَ إِمَامُكُمُ اللَّهُ أَكْبَرُ، فَقُولُوا اللَّهُ أَكْبَرُ، وَإِذَا رَكَعَ فَارْكَعُوا، وَإِذَا قَالَ سَمِعَ اللَّهُ لِمَنْ حَمِدَهُ فَقُولُوا اللَّهُمَّ رَبَّنَا لَكَ الْحَمْدُ، وَإِنَّ خَيْرَ صُفُوفِ الرِّجَالِ الْمُقَدَّمُ، وَشَرَّهَا الْمُؤَخَّرُ، وَخَيْرَ صُفُوفِ النِّسَاءِ الْمُؤَخَّرُ، وَشَرَّهَا الْمُقَدَّمُ، يَا مَعْشَرَ النِّسَاءِ! إِذَا سَجَدَ الرِّجَالُ فَاغْضُضْنَ أَبْصَارَكُنَّ لَا تَرَيْنَ عَوْرَاتِ الرِّجَالِ مِنْ ضِيقِ الْأَزُرِ))
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Sa'id Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Shall I not guide you to such deeds through which Allah forgives sins and increases good deeds? They said: Why not, O Messenger of Allah! He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Performing ablution perfectly despite dislikes, taking many steps towards these mosques, and waiting for the next prayer after performing one prayer. Whoever among you leaves his house in a state of ablution and, after offering a prayer with the Muslims, sits in the same place waiting for the next prayer, the angels pray for him: O Allah! Forgive him, O Allah! Have mercy on him. When you stand for prayer, straighten and align your rows and fill the gaps, for indeed I see you from behind my back. When your Imam says Allahu Akbar, you also say Allahu Akbar; when he bows (in ruku‘), you bow; and when he says Sami‘ Allahu liman hamidah, you say Rabbana lakal hamd. Indeed, the best rows for men are the front rows and the worst are the last rows, and the best rows for women are the last rows and the worst are the front rows. O assembly of women! When the men go into prostration, lower your gaze so that, due to their garments being short, you do not see their private parts.
Hadith 2637
عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: ((خَيْرُ صُفُوفِ الرِّجَالِ الْمُقَدَّمُ وَشَرُّهَا الْمُؤَخَّرُ، وَشَرُّ صُفُوفِ النِّسَاءِ الْمُقَدَّمُ وَخَيْرُهَا الْمُؤَخَّرُ))
Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah, may Allah be pleased with him, narrates that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: The best row for men is the front one and their worst row is the last one, and the worst row for women is the front one and their best row is the last one.
Hadith 2638
(وَعَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ بِنَحْوِهِ وَزَادَ) ثُمَّ قَالَ: ((يَا مَعْشَرَ النِّسَاءِ إِذَا سَجَدَ الرِّجَالُ فَاغْضُضْنَ أَبْصَارَكُنَّ لَا تَرَيْنَ عَوْرَاتِ الرِّجَالِ مِنْ ضِيقِ الْأَزُرِ))
A similar hadith is narrated from Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him), in which these additional words are present: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: O group of women! When men go into prostration, lower your gaze, so that due to the shortness of the men's lower garments, you do not see their private parts.
Hadith 2639
عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ: ((أَقِيمُوا الصَّفَّ فِي الصَّلَاةِ فَإِنَّ إِقَامَةَ الصَّفِّ مِنْ حُسْنِ الصَّلَاةِ))
Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) reports that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) said: Straighten and align the rows in prayer, for indeed straightening and aligning the rows is part of the beauty of prayer.
Hadith 2640
عَنْ بُشَيْرِ بْنِ يَسَارٍ قَالَ: جَاءَ أَنَسُ بْنُ مَالِكٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ إِلَى الْمَدِينَةِ فَقُلْنَا لَهُ: مَا أَنْكَرْتَ مِنْ عَهْدِ نَبِيِّ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ؟ فَقَالَ: مَا أَنْكَرْتُ مِنْكُمْ شَيْئًا غَيْرَ أَنَّكُمْ لَا تُقِيمُونَ صُفُوفَكُمْ
Bashir bin Yasar says: Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) came (to Madinah Munawwarah from Basrah). We asked him: What thing seems strange and new to you compared to the time of the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him)? He said: I do not find anything strange among you, except this one thing—that you do not straighten and align your rows.
Hadith 2641
عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ: كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ يُقْبِلُ عَلَيْنَا بِوَجْهِهِ قَبْلَ أَنْ يُكَبِّرَ فَيَقُولُ: ((تَرَاصُّوا (وَفِي رِوَايَةٍ: أَقِيمُوا صُفُوفَكُمْ وَتَرَاصُّوا) وَاعْتَدِلُوا فَإِنِّي أَرَاكُمْ مِنْ وَرَاءِ ظَهْرِي))
Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) says: Before saying the opening Takbir, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) would turn towards us and say: Join together firmly (and in one narration: straighten your rows and join together), and be aligned, for indeed I see you from behind me.
Hadith 2642
عَنِ النُّعْمَانِ بْنِ بَشِيرٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ: كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ يُسَوِّينَا فِي الصُّفُوفِ كَمَا تُقَوَّمُ الْقِدَاحُ حَتَّى إِذَا ظَنَّ أَنَّا أَخَذْنَا ذَلِكَ عَنْهُ وَفَهِمْنَاهُ أَقْبَلَ ذَاتَ يَوْمٍ بِوَجْهِهِ فَإِذَا رَجُلٌ مُنْتَبِذٌ بِصَدْرِهِ، فَقَالَ: ((لَتُسَوُّنَّ صُفُوفَكُمْ أَوْ لَيُخَالِفَنَّ اللَّهُ بَيْنَ وُجُوهِكُمْ))
Sayyiduna Nu’man bin Bashir (may Allah be pleased with him) says: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) used to straighten our rows just as the shafts of arrows are straightened, until when he thought that we had learned this from him and understood this method, one day he turned towards us and saw that a man’s chest was protruding forward. At that time, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: You will certainly straighten your rows, or Allah the Exalted will create discord between your faces.
Hadith 2643
عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ: رَأَى النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي أَصْحَابِهِ تَأَخُّرًا، فَقَالَ: تَقَدَّمُوا فَأْتَمُّوا بِي، وَلْيُؤْتَمَّ بِكُمْ مَنْ بَعْدَكُمْ، لَا يَزَالُ قَوْمٌ يَتَأَخَّرُونَ حَتَّى يُؤَخِّرَهُمُ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Sa'id Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) saw unnecessary delay among his companions and said: Move forward and follow me, and those behind you should follow you. (Be aware that) people keep falling behind, until Allah will put them behind on the Day of Resurrection.
Hadith 2644
عَنِ الْبَرَاءِ بْنِ عَازِبٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ: كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَأْتِينَا إِذَا قُمْنَا إِلَى الصَّلَاةِ فَيَمْسَحُ عَوَاتِقَنَا أَوْ صُدُورَنَا وَكَانَ يَقُولُ: ((لَا تَخْتَلِفُوا فَتَخْتَلِفَ قُلُوبُكُمْ))، وَكَانَ يَقُولُ: ((إِنَّ اللَّهَ وَمَلَائِكَتَهُ يُصَلُّونَ عَلَى الصَّفِّ الْأَوَّلِ أَوِ الصُّفُوفِ الْأُوَلِ))
Sayyiduna Bara’ bin Azib (may Allah be pleased with him) says: When we would stand for prayer, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) would come to us and touch our shoulders or chests and say: Do not differ in this matter, otherwise your hearts will become opposed to one another. And he used to say: Indeed, Allah and His angels send mercy upon those in the first row.
Hadith 2645
عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ سَمْرَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ: خَرَجَ عَلَيْنَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ ذَاتَ يَوْمٍ فَقَالَ: ((مَا لِي أَرَاكُمْ رَافِعِي أَيْدِيكُمْ كَأَنَّهَا أَذْنَابُ خَيْلٍ شُمْسٍ، أُسْكُنُوا فِي الصَّلَاةِ))، ثُمَّ خَرَجَ عَلَيْنَا فَرَأَانَا حِلَقًا فَقَالَ: ((مَا لِي أَرَاكُمْ عِزِينَ))، ثُمَّ خَرَجَ عَلَيْنَا فَقَالَ: ((أَلَا تَصُفُّونَ كَمَا تَصُفُّ الْمَلَائِكَةُ عِنْدَ رَبِّهَا؟))، قَالَ: قَالُوا: يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ! كَيْفَ تَصُفُّ الْمَلَائِكَةُ عِنْدَ رَبِّهَا؟ قَالَ: ((يُتِمُّونَ الصُّفُوفَ الْأُوْلَى وَيَتَرَاصُّونَ فِي الصَّفِّ))
Sayyiduna Jabir bin Samurah (may Allah be pleased with him) says: One day the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) came to us and said: What is the reason that I see you raising your hands like the tails of unruly horses? Be calm in prayer. Then once he (peace and blessings be upon him) came to us and, seeing us sitting in groups, said: What is the reason that you are in the form of different groups? Then once he came to us and said: Do you not form rows as the angels form rows before their Lord? The people said: O Messenger of Allah! How do the angels form rows before their Lord? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: They complete the front rows first and stand together firmly in the row.
Hadith 2646
عَنْ أَبِي أُمَامَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنَّهُ قَالَ: ((لَتُسَوُّنَّ الصُّفُوفَ أَوْ لَتُطْمَسَنَّ وُجُوهُكُمْ وَلَتُغْمِضُنَّ أَبْصَارَكُمْ أَوْ لَتُخْطَفَنَّ أَبْصَارُكُمْ))
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Umamah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: You must certainly straighten your rows or else the forms of your faces will be changed, and you must certainly lower your eyes or else your eyes will surely be snatched away.
Hadith 2647
عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: أَقِيمُوا الصُّفُوفَ فَإِنَّمَا تَصُفُّونَ بِصُفُوفِ الْمَلَائِكَةِ وَحَاذُوا بَيْنَ الْمَنَاكِبِ وَسُدُّوا الْخَلَلَ وَلِينُوا فِي أَيْدِي إِخْوَانِكُمْ وَلَا تَذَرُوا فُرُجَاتٍ لِلشَّيْطَانِ وَمَنْ وَصَلَ صَفًّا وَصَلَهُ اللَّهُ تَبَارَكَ وَتَعَالَى وَمَنْ قَطَعَ صَفًّا قَطَعَهُ اللَّهُ
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Straighten your rows, (keep in mind that) you have to form rows like the rows of angels, keep your shoulders aligned, fill the gaps, be gentle in the hands of your brothers, and do not leave any empty space for Satan. (Remember that) whoever joins the row, Allah will join him (with His grace and mercy), and whoever cuts the row, Allah will cut him (off from His mercy).
Hadith 2648
عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: ((رُصُّوا صُفُوفَكُمْ وَقَارِبُوا بَيْنَهَا وَحَاذُوا بِالْأَعْنَاقِ فَوَالَّذِي نَفْسُ مُحَمَّدٍ بِيَدِهِ! إِنِّي لَأَرَى الشَّيَاطِينَ تَدْخُلُ مِنْ خَلَلِ الصُّفُوفِ كَأَنَّهَا الْحَذَفُ))
Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Join your rows, bring them close together, and align your necks (in a straight line). By the One in Whose hand is the soul of Muhammad! Indeed, I see the devils slipping into the gaps between the rows just as if they were black sheep without hair.
Hadith 2649
عَنِ الْبَرَاءِ بْنِ عَازِبٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ: ((أَقِيمُوا صُفُوفَكُمْ لَا يَتَخَلَّلُكُمْ كَأَوْلَادِ الْحَذَفِ))، قِيلَ: يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ! وَمَا أَوْلَادُ الْحَذَفِ؟ قَالَ: ((سُودٌ جُرْدٌ تَكُونُ بِأَرْضِ الْيَمَنِ))
Sayyiduna Bara’ bin Azib (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Straighten and align your rows, and do not let the devil slip in among you like the offspring of Hadhaf. Someone asked: O Messenger of Allah! What is meant by the offspring of Hadhaf? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: These are black sheep, they have no hair, and they are found in the region of Yemen.
Hadith 2650
عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: إِنِّي أَنْظُرُ أَوْ إِنِّي لَأَنْظُرُ مَا وَرَاءِي كَمَا أَنْظُرُ إِلَى مَا بَيْنَ يَدَيَّ، فَسَوُّوا صُفُوفَكُمْ وَأَحْسِنُوا رُكُوعَكُمْ وَسُجُودَكُمْ
Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Surely, I see behind me just as I see in front of me, so keep your rows straight and perform bowing and prostration in a good manner.
Hadith 2651
(وَعَنْهُ أَيْضًا عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: ((أَحْسِنُوا إِقَامَةَ الصُّفُوفِ فِي الصَّلَاةِ، خَيْرُ صُفُوفِ الرِّجَالِ فِي الصَّلَاةِ أَوَّلُهَا، وَشَرُّهَا آخِرُهَا، وَخَيْرُ صُفُوفِ النِّسَاءِ فِي الصَّلَاةِ آخِرُهَا، وَشَرُّهَا أَوَّلُهَا))
Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Noble Prophet said: Keep the rows straight in prayer; the best row for men in prayer is the first one and the worst is the last, and for women, the best row is the last and the worst is the first.
Hadith 2652
عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ: ((سَوُّوا (وَفِي رِوَايَةٍ: أَتِمُّوا) صُفُوفَكُمْ فَإِنَّ تَسْوِيَةَ الصُّفُوفِ مِنْ تَمَامِ الصَّلَاةِ))
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik, may Allah be pleased with him, that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: Straighten your rows and (according to one narration) complete them, for indeed straightening the rows is part of the perfection of prayer.
Hadith 2653
(وَعَنْهُ أَيْضًا قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ: ((أَقِيمُوا صُفُوفَكُمْ فَإِنَّ مِنْ حُسْنِ الصَّلَاةِ إِقَامَةَ الصَّفِّ))
Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) also narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Straighten your rows, for indeed straightening the row is part of the beauty of prayer.
Hadith 2654
عَنْ مُصْعَبِ بْنِ ثَابِتِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ الزُّبَيْرِ قَالَ: طَلَبْنَا عِلْمَ الْعُودِ الَّذِي فِي مَقَامِ الْإِمَامِ، فَلَمْ نَقْدِرْ عَلَى أَحَدٍ يَذْكُرُ لَنَا فِيهِ شَيْئًا، قَالَ مُصْعَبٌ: فَأَخْبَرَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مُسْلِمِ بْنِ السَّائِبِ بْنِ خَبَّابٍ صَاحِبُ الْمَقْصُورَةِ، فَقَالَ: جَلَسَ إِلَيَّ أَنَسُ بْنُ مَالِكٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ يَوْمًا فَقَالَ: هَلْ تَدْرِي لِمَ صُنِعَ هَٰذَا؟ وَلَمْ أَسْأَلْهُ عَنْهُ، فَقُلْتُ: لَا وَاللَّهِ لَا أَدْرِي لِمَ صُنِعَ، فَقَالَ أَنَسٌ: كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَضَعُ عَلَيْهِ يَمِينَهُ ثُمَّ يَلْتَفِتُ إِلَيْنَا فَيَقُولُ: ((اسْتَوُوا وَاعْدِلُوا صُفُوفَكُمْ))
Mus'ab bin Thabit says: There was a piece of wood near the place of the Imam. We wanted to find out the reality about it, but we could not find anyone who could tell us anything about it. Then Muhammad bin Muslim, who was in the Maqsurah, told me: One day, Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) was sitting with me and said: Do you know why this piece of wood was made? Even though I had not asked him any question about it. I said: No, by Allah! I do not know why it was made. Then Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) used to place his hand on it and, turning towards us, would say: Straighten and align your rows.
Hadith 2655
عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: ((أَتِمُّوا الصَّفَّ الْأَوَّلَ ثُمَّ الَّذِي يَلِيهِ، فَإِنْ كَانَ نَقْصٌ فَلْيَكُنْ فِي الصَّفِّ الْمُؤَخَّرِ))
Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Complete the first row first, then the one after it; if there is any deficiency, it should be in the last row.
Hadith 2656
عَنْ عَائِشَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهَا قَالَتْ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ: ((إِنَّ اللَّهَ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ وَمَلَائِكَتَهُ عَلَيْهِمُ السَّلَامُ يُصَلُّونَ عَلَى الَّذِينَ يَصِلُونَ الصُّفُوفَ، وَمَنْ سَدَّ فُرْجَةً رَفَعَهُ اللَّهُ بِهَا دَرَجَةً))
It is narrated from Sayyidah Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Indeed, Allah Almighty and His angels send mercy upon those who join the rows, and whoever fills a gap in the row, Allah raises his rank by one degree.
