Hadith 2487
Under this chapter, the following sub-chapters and hadiths have been mentioned.
عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ: ((لَا تَمْنَعُوا إِمَاءَ اللَّهِ مَسَاجِدَ اللَّهِ))
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Do not prevent Allah’s female servants from going to Allah’s mosques.
Hadith 2488
(وَعَنْهُ مِنْ طَرِيقٍ ثَانٍ) قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ: ((لَا تَمْنَعُوا إِمَاءَ اللَّهِ أَنْ يُصَلِّينَ فِي الْمَسْجِدِ))
(Second chain of narration) They say that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: Do not prevent the female servants of Allah from praying in the mosque.
Hadith 2489
عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: لَا تَمْنَعُوا إِمَاءَ اللَّهِ مَسَاجِدَ اللَّهِ وَلْيَخْرُجْنَ تَفِلَاتٍ
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah, may Allah be pleased with him, that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: Do not prevent Allah’s maidservants from Allah’s mosques, and women should go to the mosque without using perfume.
Hadith 2490
عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ خَالِدٍ الْجُهَنِيِّ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ مِثْلُهُ
Sayyiduna Zayd bin Khalid al-Juhani, may Allah be pleased with him, also narrates a similar narration from the Noble Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him.
Hadith 2491
عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ: ((أَذِنُوا لِلنِّسَاءِ بِاللَّيْلِ تَفِلَاتٍ))، لَيْثٌ الَّذِي ذَكَرَ: ((تَفِلَاتٍ))
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Allow women to go (to the mosque) at night, provided that they have not used perfume. Only the narrator Laith has mentioned the words "tafilat" (without fragrance).
Hadith 2492
(وَعَنْهُ أَيْضًا) عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: ((لَا يَمْنَعَنَّ رَجُلٌ أَهْلَهُ أَنْ يَّأْتُوا الْمَسَاجِدَ))، فَقَالَ ابْنٌ لِعَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ: فَإِنَّا نَمْنَعُهُنَّ، فَقَالَ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ: أُحَدِّثُكَ عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَتَقُولُ هَٰذَا، فَمَا كَلَّمَهُ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ حَتَّى مَاتَ
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: No man should ever prevent his family members from coming to the mosques. One of the sons of Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said: We will prevent them. Upon hearing this, Sayyiduna Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: I am narrating to you the hadith of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and you speak of preventing them. After that, Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) did not speak to that son until his death.
Hadith 2493
(وَعَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ أَيْضًا) عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنَّهُ قَالَ: ((لَا تَمْنَعُوا نِسَاءَكُمْ الْمَسَاجِدَ بِاللَّيْلِ))، فَقَالَ سَالِمٌ أَوْ بَعْضُ بَنِيهِ: وَاللَّهِ! لَا نَدَعُهُنَّ يَتَّخِذْنَهُ دَغَلًا، قَالَ: فَلَطَمَ صَدْرَهُ وَقَالَ أُحَدِّثُكَ عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَتَقُولُ هَٰذَا
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Do not prevent your women from going to the mosques at night. Salim or another son said in response: By Allah! We will not let them go, because they will make it a means of deception. Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) struck his chest and said: I am narrating to you the hadith of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and you say this.
Hadith 2494
عَنْ حَبِيبِ بْنِ أَبِي ثَابِتٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: ((لَا تَمْنَعُوا نِسَاءَكُمْ الْمَسَاجِدَ وَبُيُوتُهُنَّ خَيْرٌ لَهُنَّ))، قَالَ: فَقَالَ ابْنٌ لِعَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ: بَلَى وَاللَّهِ! لَنَمْنَعُهُنَّ، فَقَالَ ابْنُ عُمَرَ: تَسْمَعُنِي أُحَدِّثُ عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَتَقُولُ مَا تَقُولُ
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Do not prevent women from going to the mosques, but their homes are better for them. One of the sons of Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar said: Why not, by Allah! We will certainly prevent them. Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said to him: Are you listening that I am narrating the hadith of the Messenger of Allah, and you are saying such words?
Hadith 2495
عَنْ كَعْبِ بْنِ عَلْقَمَةَ عَنْ بِلَالِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ بْنِ الْخَطَّابِ عَنْ أَبِيهِ قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ: ((لَا تَمْنَعُوا النِّسَاءَ حُظُوظَهُنَّ مِنَ الْمَسَاجِدِ إِذَا اسْتَأْذَنَكُمْ))، فَقَالَ بِلَالٌ: وَاللَّهِ! لَنَمْنَعُهُنَّ، فَقَالَ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ: أَقُولُ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ، وَتَقُولُ: لَنَمْنَعُهُنَّ
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: When women seek your permission, do not prevent them from (going to) the mosques. Bilal bin Abdullah said: By Allah! We will certainly prevent them. Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said: I am saying that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said this, and you are saying that we will prevent them.
Hadith 2496
عَنْ سَالِمِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ (يَعْنِي ابْنَ عُمَرَ) قَالَ: كَانَ عُمَرُ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ رَجُلًا غَيُّورًا، فَكَانَ إِذَا خَرَجَ إِلَى الصَّلَاةِ اتَّبَعَتْهُ عَاتِكَةُ بِنْتُ زَيْدٍ فَكَانَ يَكْرَهُ خُرُوجَهَا وَيَكْرَهُ مَنْعَهَا، وَكَانَ يُحَدِّثُ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: ((إِذَا اسْتَأْذَنَتْكُمْ نِسَاؤُكُمْ إِلَى الصَّلَاةِ فَلَا تَمْنَعُوهُنَّ))
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) says: Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) was a very protective man. When he would go out for prayer, (his wife) Sayyida Atika bint Zayd (may Allah be pleased with her) would also follow behind him. Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) disliked her going out, but he also did not like to stop her. Then he narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: When your women seek permission from you to go to the mosque, do not stop them.
Hadith 2497
عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ: ((إِذَا اسْتَأْذَنَتْ أَحَدَكُمْ امْرَأَتُهُ أَنْ تَأْتِيَ الْمَسْجِدَ فَلَا يَمْنَعْهَا))، قَالَ: وَكَانَتْ امْرَأَةُ عُمَرَ بْنِ الْخَطَّابِ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ تُصَلِّي فِي الْمَسْجِدِ، فَقَالَ لَهَا: إِنَّكِ لَتَعْلَمِينَ مَا أُحِبُّ، فَقَالَتْ: وَاللَّهِ! لَا أَنْتَهِي حَتَّى تَنْهَانِي، قَالَ: فَطُعِنَ عُمَرُ وَإِنَّهَا لَفِي الْمَسْجِدِ
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar narrates that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: When any of your wives asks permission to go to the mosque, he should not stop her. The wife of Sayyiduna Umar bin Khattab, may Allah be pleased with him, also used to pray in the mosque. Sayyiduna Umar, may Allah be pleased with him, said to her: You know what I prefer. But she said: By Allah! I will not stop until you forbid me. Then, when Sayyiduna Umar, may Allah be pleased with him, was stabbed, his wife was in the mosque.
