بَابُ تَطَوُّعِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَاعِدًا
Chapter on the Prophet’s Voluntary Prayer While Sitting
Hadith 2433
عَنْ عَائِشَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهَا قَالَتْ: كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ يُصَلِّي كَثِيرًا مِنْ صَلَاتِهِ وَهُوَ جَالِسٌ
Sayyida Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) says that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) used to pray mostly while sitting.
Hadith 2434
عَنْ أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهَا قَالَتْ: وَالَّذِي تَوَفَّى نَفْسَهُ! تَعْنِي النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ مَا تُوُفِّيَ حَتَّى كَانَتْ أَكْثَرُ صَلَاتِهِ قَاعِدًا إِلَّا الْمَكْتُوبَةَ، وَكَانَ أَعْجَبُ الْعَمَلِ إِلَيْهِ الَّذِي يَدُومُ عَلَيْهِ الْعَبْدُ وَإِنْ كَانَ يَسِيرًا
Sayyida Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her) says: By the One Who caused the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) to pass away! The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) did not pass away until he began to perform most of his prayers sitting, except for the obligatory prayers, and the deed most beloved to him was that which a servant performed consistently, even if it was a small deed.
Hadith 2435
عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ: كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ يُصَلِّي قَائِمًا وَقَاعِدًا وَحَافِيًا وَمُنْتَعِلًا (زَادَ فِي رِوَايَةٍ) وَيَنْفَتِلُ عَنْ يَمِينِهِ وَعَنْ يَسَارِهِ
Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) would pray standing and sitting, and likewise, he would pray barefoot as well as wearing shoes, and (after finishing the prayer) he would turn to the right side and also to the left side.
