بَابُ جَوَازِ التَّطَوُّعِ مِنْ جُلُوسٍ لِغَيْرِ عُذْرٍ وَتَنْصِيفِ أَجْرِهِ لِغَيْرِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَليهِ وسَلمَ
Chapter on the Permissibility of Voluntary Prayer While Sitting Without Excuse and Halving Its Reward for Others Than the Prophet
Hadith 2430
عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ يُصَلِّي جَالِسًا، قُلْتُ لَهُ: حُدِّثْتُ أَنَّكَ تَقُولُ صَلَاةُ الْقَاعِدِ عَلَى نِصْفِ صَلَاةِ الْقَائِمِ؟ قَالَ: ((إِنِّي لَسْتُ كَمِثْلِكُمْ))
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Amr says: When I saw the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) praying while sitting, I said to him: I have been told that you (peace and blessings be upon him) have said that the prayer of one who prays sitting is half of the prayer of one who prays standing? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: I am not like you.
Hadith 2431
عَنِ السَّائِبِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: ((صَلَاةُ الْقَاعِدِ عَلَى النِّصْفِ مِنْ صَلَاةِ الْقَائِمِ))
Sayyiduna Sa’ib bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: The prayer of the one who prays sitting is (in reward and merit) half of the prayer of the one who prays standing.
Hadith 2432
(وَعَنْهُ أَيْضًا) قَالَ: دَخَلْتُ عَلَى عَائِشَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهَا فَحَدَّثَتْنَا أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: ((صَلَاةُ الْقَاعِدِ عَلَى النِّصْفِ مِنْ صَلَاةِ الْقَائِمِ))
It is also narrated from Sayyiduna Sa'ib (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: I went to Sayyidah Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her), and she related to me that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: The prayer of the one who prays sitting is half of the prayer of the one who prays standing.
